Real Housewives of New Jersey‘s Gia Giudice is giving fans an update on where she and her uncle Joe Gorga stand today amid mom Teresa Giudice‘s ongoing feud with Joe and her sister-in-law Melissa Gorga, which led to the couple skipping out on Teresa’s summer wedding to now-husband Luis Ruelas.
While attending BravoCon over the weekend, Gia spoke with Us Weekly and said she’s “trying to be the bigger person.” Gia also revealed that she and Joe have been in contact sporadically throughout the summer, and she sends Joe birthday texts and holiday messages, including on Father’s Day, out of “respect.”
Gia also added that it’s going to be “absolutely” sad to watch the deterioration of her family’s relationships play out in the upcoming season of RHONJ.
“I think this is the season where it’s kind of like the chapter’s closed,” Gia confessed. The RHONJ starlet did let on that she would never say “never” on a reconciliation between Teresa and Joe, but she thinks it may take some time.
Gia also recently opened up about her relationship with her boyfriend of one year, Christian Carmichael. The couple sparked rumors of a breakup after fans noticed the two hadn’t interacted on social media for quite some time. Gia admitted the two did hit a bit of a “rough patch” but are still going strong.
“Our relationship is definitely private,” Gia told In Touch at BravoCon on Friday, October 14. “We had a little rough patch but we’re back and better than ever.”
An inside source added, “Gia has not broken up with her boyfriend. Not true.”
Gia and Christian went Instagram official in July 2020, and he has won the approval of her family. However, Gia maintains that she’s not looking to fast-track the relationship toward an engagement or marriage as she still has too much she wants to accomplish, including her law career. Still, Gia said she isn’t opposed to taking a more manageable step forward by way of moving in together.
“I still have a lot of things to do in my life,” she said. “I’m going to law school; he’s forming his career right now. But yeah, we’re not opposed to moving in together or doing something like that in the future.”
Gia was previously linked to Dolores Cantania‘s son, Frank “Frankie” Catania, Jr., and fans were here for the coupling. However, the two remain just good friends after attending prom together. Frankie remains fully supportive of Gia’s relationship with Christian, but he hasn’t taken himself out of the running quite yet.
“I’m not mad at all. As long as she is happy and he treats her right, I am happy for her,” Frankie told Page Six. “At the end of the day, she’s my friend, and if something was to happen in the future with us — time will tell.”
