Jennifer Aydin shared if Melissa and Joe Gorga should be fired from Real Housewives of New Jersey, addressed her current relationship with husband Bill, and revealed why Luis Ruelas wore his late father-in-law’s PJs.
On the current season of the show, many fans are questioning Melissa’s position – given reports that she’s no longer in contact with sister-in-law Teresa Giudice after an explosive argument on the season finale – and rumors are swirling that she’s set to be fired.
Speaking with The U.S. Sun, castmate Jennifer addressed if Melissa and Joe should be removed from the cast.
“No, I don’t ever want to see anyone be fired from their job. I’m not the boss. I don’t make the rules. On if they want them not back or not back, whatever Bravo wants, Bravo gets,” she expressed. “I’m a very good employee and I will work with all of my co-workers, please know that! Nobody get fired! But I trust Bravo knows what they’re doing.”
Addressing the Gorgas and Giudices’ potential reconciliation, Jennifer said, “I think right now it’s too premature to assume anything. I think we just need to give everybody some time … Teresa is just trying to concentrate on her life. She’s a newlywed. She has this new beautiful blended family. She’s really trying to concentrate on keeping the peace.”
Jennifer claimed she doesn’t know “how it’s going to go between them” at the reunion.
“All I could say is what I will try to do, which is just work through my issues with some of my cast members. At the end of the day, the show is about friendships, making new friendships and trying to resolve whatever conflict we have with each other. Hopefully we can get to that at the reunion,” she explained.
The 45-year-old said she’s currently “not speaking” with co-star Margaret Josephs, with whom she’s feuding in the current season.
“We have the reunion coming up so I hope we can hash a few things out and maybe come to some type of resolution,” she stated. “I’m always open to being friends with anyone who is willing to be friends with me. Relationships are give and take and it’s all what you put into it. I never say never.”
Regarding the current season, Jennifer shared: “I do not remember experiencing anything this combative before. This is definitely new for me … I will say I am not enjoying it. It is not fun. Can’t we all just get along? I don’t get nervous!”
Jennifer also addressed her current relationship with husband Bill. “Going to therapy, even though it was one session, it really meant something to him,” she said. “Sometimes when someone from the outside is giving you advice you listen to it more than when it comes from your loved one … Things started working out on its own. We don’t even need therapy anymore. We’re like, ‘Why should we go to therapy? We’re great.’”
In an interview for Us Weekly, Jennifer gave insight into why Luis wore his late father-in-law’s pajamas.
“Teresa was cleaning out Nonno’s clothes and [there] were a brand new pair of pajamas,” said Jennifer. “I’ve done the same thing where it was like, ‘Oh, my God, these are so — these are brand new. These are great. Do you want ’em?’ And I think Luis was like, ‘Oh, my God, they were meant for Nonno, I would love them as a part of Nonno.’”
During the episode, Luis told his now-brother-in-law that he wore the pajamas to make his stepdaughters feel safe.
“The things that he was saying was just so that Joe could see how much he loves Teresa and how much he cares,” said Jennifer. “I understand that seeing it the way that it was presented in that context, it probably came off as a little strange to people. But when you know Luis, you could see he’s just trying to keep the peace.”
She added, “When someone passes away, you keep their T-shirt, don’t you? You sleep in their T-shirt or something … Everyone’s like trying to be such a hater with Luis and, like, all I see is him trying to do the right thing.”
The Real Housewives of New Jersey season 13 airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
