Garcelle Beauvais is more than happy that her son, Oliver Saunders, has remained relatively unscathed in the court of public opinion after sharing an on-screen kiss with Vanderpump Rules star, Raquel Leviss, after news broke of her months-long affair with co-star Tom Sandoval.
“Oh my God. My damn kids,” Garcelle told Entertainment Tonight while attending best friend and co-star Sutton Stracke’s party celebrating the fourth anniversary of her boutique, The Sutton Concept. “When it became bigger than what Oliver did, I was like, ‘Whew. Thank God. It’s not about just him.'”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star continued to elaborate on the matter, stating that though she wishes Oliver had not gotten himself caught up in the scandal, she realizes that her son is an adult who makes his own decisions, regardless of her opinion.
“I mean, listen, Oliver’s a grown-a** man. Do I agree with everything he does? Absolutely not. But I love him, and what are you gonna do?” she stated.
Garcelle explained that she didn’t watch Oliver and Raquel’s interaction go down in “real-time.” But she did express that she had a pretty rough time watching the pair’s dalliance go down later on, especially knowing what she knows now as the Vanderpump Rules scandal continues to dominate headlines.
“I found myself watching it through my fingers,” the actress said. “You don’t want to see your kid make out. And it felt like it was the entire episode. Felt like it slowed down to a crawl. I couldn’t take it.”
Following the current scandal, Garcelle revealed that Oliver confessed to her that reality television may not be for him.
“He was like, ‘I don’t think reality’s for me,'” she shared. “And I go, ‘Good. It’s not.'”
Garcelle seems to be one protective mama.
The actress also took time to reveal that she has tried to get OG RHOBH Housewife Lisa Vanderpump to make a small return to the franchise as it continues filming for its 13th season, and it actually almost happened!
“No, you know, it came this close,” Garcelle revealed. “I almost got her to come to my movie screening that I had, and she chickened out. You never know. I’m still talking to her about it.”
She continued, “I would love it. And I think some would love it, and some would not.”
We can only assume she’s referring to Lisa’s former BFF Kyle Richards.
RHOBH has welcomed back a slew of former stars for the upcoming season, including OGs Kim Richards and Camille Grammer and fan-favorite Denise Richards. Garcelle, a known defender of Denise, is happy to have the additions.
“I think it’s fun. I think it’s good,” she said, concluding that bringing back familiar and engaging faces “enhances our show.”
