Insiders claimed Kim Zolciak harbored private plans to divorce Kroy Biermann for “a long time” as their financial issues became too heavy to manage.

A different source indicated that the Don’t Be Tardy star lost $250,000 while gambling in the Bahamas. Not long before Kim filed, it was reported that she and Kroy owed $1.1 million in unpaid taxes.

Regarding Kim’s divorce plans, a source shared with PEOPLE, “She had not told anyone, not even family. She didn’t tell anyone, even [her] friends were kept in the dark.”

According to insiders speaking to Radar, the couple’s money situation, which began long before the reported tax debt, was a factor in the breakup.

A source explained, “There’s no cheating on either side. The money has much to do with the split, but there were other factors. He’s been managing [the family] for a long time, so he technically did have a job. They’re not on good terms right now.”

In a separate report, a source told the outlet that Kim lost $250,000 while gambling in the Bahamas, well before their financial problems were publicly revealed.

“I love to gamble, but there’s no casino here in Georgia, so the only way to get my thrill is to buy scratch-offs,” said Kim in a past scene from Don’t Be Tardy. “I play big to win big.”

“I took a really big hit in the Bahamas last time I went … like quarter of a million dollars,” Kim confessed in a different scene. “A lot of money. Yeah, crazy, and I never went back.”

In 2019, a separate insider claimed Kim “gambled away $30,000 in Vegas.”

“She had some small wins here and there, around $250, but for the most part the money is gone,” said the source, claiming the star played “a combination of blackjack, craps, and slot machines, too.”

Kim and Kroy are reportedly both seeking custody of the four minor kids — and the exes are still living in the mansion.
