Lauren Manzo clapped back at body-shamers on social media after critics slammed her recent 100-pound weight loss.
Last year, the Real Housewives of New Jersey alum opened up about losing weight with Mounjaro. She also revealed that she began a dairy and gluten-free diet.
On May 3, Lauren posted clips on Instagram of herself before and after the weight loss – but fans criticized her in the comments.
“I wish you would also promote the importan[ce] of dieting and exercising on top of the body sculpting! Sculpting doesn’t prevent heart disease! Healthy dieting and exercise does!” commented one fan. Lauren then responded that she indeed “talk[s] constantly [with her doctor] about functional medicine,” and she made “major lifestyle changes” in addition to the body sculpting.
A different critic claimed Manzo doesn’t “look like [herself] anymore.” Lauren wrote back: “I was 100 lbs heavier and very unhealthy. So I hope not.”
She later took to TikTok to address the critical comments.
“People making mean comments says more about them than it does about me,” said the star, and she then clapped back at the accusation of being “too skinny.”
“You’re right, I do think I am too skinny right now. I’ve been doing certain things to gain weight but also maintain. I’ve yo-yoed still. I definitely still do not have a healthy relationship with my weight, and I’m willing to admit that,” she shared, via Us Weekly.
But Lauren added that it’s not okay to make hateful comments on her posts just because she’s a “public figure.”
“When I was 100 lbs heavier, the same people that are commenting stuff like, ‘She looks like a skeleton. She looks terrible,’ are the same people that were commenting that I looked like a fat whale when I was 200 lbs,” said Lauren, who expressed she “can’t win.”
“Truthfully, I am happy,” she explained. “I don’t really know why anybody thinks that they have the right to comment something terrible on my stuff or anybody else’s.”
