Mary Cosby offered an update on her son Robert Cosby Jr.‘s efforts to get sober while appearing on Dorinda Medley and Kiki Monique‘s radio show on Tuesday.

As she also revealed she recently welcomed the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast to her church, confirming she didn’t let Britani Bateman attend and shading the behavior of Angie Katsanevas, 51, Mary, 52, said that while Robert Jr. is doing “good,” he’s on a “hardcore road” that’s been tough for her and her husband, Robert Cosby, to see.

“He’s doing as good as he can. It’s his journey,” Mary began on the September 9 episode of SiriusXM’s Reality Checked. “You can’t do it if your mind’s not made up. And I can’t make it up for him. I can just only push him, encourage him, and love him. And that’s what I’m doing. And that’s kind of where we are.”

“But he’s still on that road, and it’s a hardcore road,” she admitted. “It’s tough to watch as a mom. It’s hurtful to see his dad is most of the time devastated. But at the same time, I have hope and I believe in him.”

While Mary has faith that Robert Jr. will eventually turn his life around, she also knows that the decision to live sober is up to him.

“I know that his ability, I mean, I raised him, so I know he’s got all the tools and he’s got all the will, the willpower that he needs and the support. He just needs to make up his mind,” she reasoned.

As for the RHOSLC cast’s visit to her church, Mary revealed, “I didn’t invite Britani. I told her, ‘You’re not allowed.'”

“I don’t want people to sit out in the congregation that doesn’t believe in what I believe in, in that space,” she explained, adding that it would have felt “fake” if Britani had come.

“I feel like I have a bond with everyone now, and I understand them now, and they understand somewhat me, and so I felt comfortable with them coming. But before, up until this season, they wasn’t even allowed in my church, especially [Lisa Barlow]. So now it’s like they came and they all cried, all of them except Angie,” Mary continued.

Mary went on to note that she wasn’t sure what Angie was up to during the service, labeling her a “little busy body.”

“She was just looking at everyone speaking, talking to everyone, talking while I’m talking,” she stated.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season six premieres on Tuesday, September 16, at 8/7c on Bravo.
