Teresa Giudice‘s husband, Luis Ruelas, has dropped his case against his former fiancée, Vanessa Reiser.
Over a year after requesting Vanessa be thrown behind bars for allegedly violating a settlement they made amid a lawsuit filed in 2020, the 50-year-old Real Housewives of New Jersey star, who pulled both Jackie Goldschneider, 49, and Gia Giudice, 24, into their legal battle, elected to dismiss his claims.
Us Weekly confirmed the news on November 5, sharing that in court documents filed on October 21, Luis confirmed he was no longer pursuing action against Vanessa. The outlet also revealed that Vanessa’s attorney informed the judge that the case was being thrown out.
As fans may recall, Luis filed a lawsuit against Vanessa after their two-year relationship ended in 2020, demanding she return money and the engagement ring he bought her. In turn, Vanessa filed a countersuit against Luis, targeting his allegedly controlling behavior and accusing him of damaging her business. Shortly thereafter, Luis and Vanessa reached a settlement, agreeing not to publicly disparage one another.
Then, in October 2024, Luis filed documents against Vanessa, claiming she violated the agreement by defaming him on social media, stating that she had followed his stepdaughter, Gia, on Instagram, “and makes her presence known there too, causing uncomfortable feelings and emotions for a young girl.”
According to Luis, who included a declaration from Jackie in his court documents, Vanessa caused him, Teresa, 53, and their children “daily emotional distress.”
As for Jackie, she shared in her statement that Vanessa had reached out to her.
“[Reiser] often made derogatory statements about [Ruelas] to me during our interactions,” Jackie alleged. “[Reiser] and I spoke multiple times via text message and phone, where she identified herself as [Ruelas’] ex-fiancée and frequently made negative remarks about him.”
“Although I was initially sympathetic to [Reiser’s] situation, she exploited my vulnerability and kindness and sought to leverage our interactions to criticize [Ruelas],” she continued. “Based on my observations and interactions with Ms. Reiser, I believe that her actions and statements are in direct violation of the terms of the Consent Order between her and Mr. Ruelas.”
Luis also accused Vanessa of labeling him a narcissist on a podcast in 2023, which caused him to lose a six-figure salary with an unnamed company.
“The impact of Reiser’s statements has been deeply damaging, affecting my personal life, my relationship with my wife and children and my professional reputation,” he stated, requesting a judge find Vanessa to be in contempt and sentence her to jail time.
Meanwhile, in response, Vanessa denied Luis’ accusations, claiming he and others misrepresented the statements she’d made, but admitting to meeting with Jackie.
“[Goldschneider] hated [Ruelas] and his wife because his wife wrongfully and viciously accused [Goldschneider’s] husband of having an affair. But now, when [Goldschneider] needs a friend to keep her on the show, she had buddied up with Teresa,” Vanessa alleged.
She then noted that Luis offered no real proof that she followed Gia and said that if Teresa’s daughter felt “uncomfortable [online] … she could simply block that person.”
