Gina Kirschenheiter‘s boyfriend, Travis Mullen, has had his custodial rights to his son temporarily suspended.
Amid an ongoing legal battle with his ex, Meghan Mullen, Travis, 40, who is frequently seen alongside Gina, 41, on The Real Housewives of Orange County, was denied a request for emergency sole custody, which he filed last month while also asking for Meghan to be limited to supervised visits with their three kids.
According to a November 13 report from Us Weekly, a judge made the decision on October 30, as they also appointed a lawyer to represent Travis and Meghan’s children, son Joseph, and daughters Presley and Bennett. The couple will now head toward a November 18 hearing, where their custody case will be heard.
As RHOC fans may have heard, Travis said Meghan hadn’t let him see one of the kids since late September and admitted to contacting police in an effort to have their shared custody agreement enforced in court documents filed last month.
“They have not been helpful,” he alleged of the police. “I am concerned for [the son’s welfare] and feel that the ‘system’ has completely failed him.”
“This behavior on the part of [Meghan] has been occurring for over a year, and I feel that nobody is advocating [for his son]. I need assistance from the court to ensure that [his son’s] needs are met, that my son and I continue to have a close and loving relationship,” Travis continued.
He also noted that the child had missed a lot of school and that the staff was threatening to contact the District Attorney.
However, in response, Meghan claimed she was in touch with the school to fix the issue and alleged that her son didn’t want to see his dad.
“Travis continues to misuse the court process to get his way,” Meghan said. “His [court] filings appear intended to punish and control me, not to protect the children. Travis is using the family court system as a tool of coercive control and retaliation. In addition to litigation abuse.”
She then stated that Travis’ “media appearances” caused their kid to be “exposed” to strangers commenting on their lives, which he denied.
The former couple also accused one another of blocking phone time with the kids.
“This is another false allegation offered by [Meghan]. It was actually [Meghan] that would deny me phone contact with the children,” Travis fired back. “Further, I have never punished the children for wanting to talk to their mother, and never said that they could not call their mom.”
The Real Housewives of Orange County season 19 reunion concludes next Thursday, November 20, at 8/7c on Bravo.
