Katie Maloney is reacting to the drama between Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula following the release of the trailer for Summer House season 10.
After the couple was seen at odds in their marriage due to Kyle’s career of choice, as well as his late night at a fan’s house, the 38-year-old Vanderpump Rules alum slammed Kyle’s antics, compared him to her ex-husband, Tom Schwartz, 43, and accused him of “giving Tom Sandoval” vibes as she declared that Amanda, 33, deserved better.
“It looks fantastic. I watched it twice, and I was like, I need to just like, inject this into my veins,” Katie began of the trailer on the December 17 episode of Disrespectfully.
While Katie noted that she loves Kyle and Amanda, she said that Kyle’s behavior raised red flags, especially his late-night out at an undisclosed location.
“It’s just so unacceptable, and he has since come out and offered some context to that, which has made the whole thing even worse,” she shared, signaling Kyle’s explanation of having gone out of he DJed an event.
“If your job was to DJ a party, you should go home after. I don’t want to tell you how to live your life and be like a Debbie Downer on your time, but like, you are a married man. I just don’t think that that’s appropriate, especially now that I’m on the other side of things,” she explained.
Giving a nod to her past marriage to Schwartz, Katie said she had a habit of letting bad behavior slide.
“I feel like there was absolutely times where Tom would end up places. He would go to happy hour, and it’s 4 o’clock in the morning to make sure he’s not in a ditch … [And] putting that emotional strain on your partner is unforgivable,” she declared.
As for Kyle mentioning that Amanda chose not to go to the event he was DJing, Katie said his excuse was “removing accountability and putting all this on Amanda.”
“Like if Amanda had gone, you would’ve behaved yourself?” she wondered. “How about, be an adult and act accordingly all on your own. It’s giving Tom Sandoval being like, ‘Well [Ariana Madix], if you would’ve followed me, you would’ve seen that I was going to f*ck [Rachel “Raquel” Leviss] and not going to Tom Schwartz’s house.”
“I am feeling like I am watching a clip from my past,” Katie continued. “I see so many similarities … It feels so familiar … It’s humiliating to have a partner like that who cannot get it through their head that like, this is going to make my partner look stupid and me look stupid and make us look stupid, and then no taking responsibility … It’s just like, trying to qualify it or correct it or make excuses for it rather than just owning it.”
Although Katie acknowledged that there is plenty that fans don’t see on Summer House, and reasons for staying in a relationship that some don’t understand, she also pointed out that “what is being shown is exactly also what it is.”
“It might not be the whole of it, but it shouldn’t be dismissed because there’s good moments,” she stated. “I know it’s really hard to make those decisions and you don’t want to make them quickly, especially when you have a lot of things to consider like a business together, but I just want so much better for her. She deserves so much better.”
Summer House season 10 premieres on Tuesday, February 3, at 8/7c on Bravo.
