Season 12 of Married to Medicine is currently airing, and Dr. Simone Whitmore has been one of the most significant topics so far. Now, she’s opening up about setting financial boundaries with her son, where she stands with her husband after the divorce comment, and more.
Simone has been talking to her sons about financial responsibility for years now. The topic came up again recently when it was revealed during the current season of Married to Medicine that Michael Whitmore spent $64,000 on a credit card in a year. It was also during this episode that she told him he’d need to finance his own law school. Michael also said that he wanted Simone to buy him a new vehicle.
Speaking to The Daily Dish in December 2025, Simone revealed that she may have lightened up a bit on the law school topic.
She said, “We came to an agreement. He’s going to law school in the fall of 2026. And the agreement we have is that he will take loans for tuition, and I will support him, provided he cuts back on his fabulous, luxurious lifestyle. So, no more spending 60K on a credit card.”
Simon also reacted to that heated conversation about finances and personal responsibility. According to her, “That was a really painful moment to watch back. I knew that he was spoiled, he was entitled, but seeing how entitled he really is, I wanted to choke him out.”
The Bravo star also spoke to The Daily Dish about her husband, Cecil Whitmore, and how he felt about the argument, as well as where they stand after she alluded to no longer wanting to be married. She shared, “I’m sure his feelings were hurt, because he isn’t thinking that I should always take everything so far. But we are not on the same team.”
Simone continued, “We’re not on the same page with our children. And I would just like for us to get things back together again, where we at least present a unified front with our boys.”
When asked about the state of her marriage, she said, “My marriage is in a good place. Cecil and I have been married years, and we know how to weather the storm.”
In other news, Simone, her husband, and their son addressed the marriage argument from season 12 episode three on social media. Notably, Cecil compared himself to Camille Grammar, saying he felt ambushed by her divorce comment.
He began, “For the people who watch Bravo, I kinda feel like Camille Grammer tonight watching the show. Watching the episode tonight and watching Watch What Happens Live, I could see how Camille Grammer felt.” Cecil then said that Simone would be hurt if he made the same comments about her.
From there, he revealed that the intense scene lasted about an hour, even though it took only five minutes of airtime. In response to all of this, Simone said, “To act as I’ve never said at all off camera this season about the fact that we were having difficulties, it was getting difficult for me to deal with those difficulties.”
She went on to name their disagreements over parenting and to say that it’s “weird” that he’s comparing himself to Camille. Later, Michael confirmed on social media that he no longer had his Jeep and had since gotten a Tesla. Regarding law school, he said, “Law school, we ‘gon get it figured out.”
He also defended his relationship with his mother, saying, “Everyone has disagreements with their mother.” However, he also admitted that they didn’t talk for about three weeks after the heated conversation.
