Charley Manley reacted to her love triangle with Craig Conover and Salley Carson on Wednesday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live.
As she also commented on the relationships between Craig, 36, and Paige DeSorbo, 33, Austen Kroll, 38, and Audrey Pratt, and Carl Radke, 40, and Venita Aspen, 32, the 27-year-old Southern Charm star spoke of Salley’s interest in Craig, claims of giving Salley, 30, ownership of her behavior, and whether Salley’s warning about Craig was hypocritical.
“I think you know, Salley said that she had a crush on Craig, but in the exact same breath, she said that she, like, had a crush on Austen, too,” Charley recalled on the January 21 episode of WWHL. “Maybe I had selective hearing … [But] I don’t feel like she was calling dibs on him. That’s why I agreed to a date with him.”
While some have felt that Charley was far too concerned with Salley’s opinion on what she was doing, Charley denied giving her castmate ownership of her behavior.
“I think that is a very harsh word, but to be fair, I know all of these people or have a deep relationship with them, through Salley. So she knows them way better than I do. Most of the time, I’m gonna be like, ‘How do you feel?’” she explained.
As for whether it was hypocritical when Salley told her to watch out with Craig after Venita gave her the same advice, Charley said that although she could see the comparisons, “Venita never had a crush on Craig like Salley did on Craig.”
“So I don’t think that it’s the same situation. I really don’t,” she continued.
While answering a series of questions about Craig, Charley admitted to thinking he was “handsome,” said she “would live” at his Charleston home due to its stunning backyard and hot tub, and noted that she didn’t necessarily feel wooed by him at any specific point.
Charley went on to say that Craig was a “loyal friend,” despite the “ups and downs” in his friendships, and commented on his past relationship with Paige.
“I think that what they had seemed to be a pretty beautiful, long relationship, and I’m a bit of a long relationship girly so I get it,” she reasoned.
During a game of “1, 2, Agree, or Disagree,” Charley agreed that she was a better match for Craig than Salley, suspected Craig would be the first of the Southern Charm guys to wed, and confirmed that Salley was truly a girls’ girl.
She also agreed that Salley and Austen were meant to be, saying, “They’re the same person.”
Charley then disagreed that Austen and his ex-girlfriend, Audrey, should give their relationship another shot and admitted to thinking that Carl and Venita wouldn’t ultimately work out.
As for her fellow newbie, Whitner Slagsvol, she disagreed that it didn’t make sense for the women not to pursue him and denied that he was the hottest on the show.
After noting that she’d only seen clips of Southern Charm from last season before joining the series for season 11, Charley weighed in on Craig saying that Austen was an enemy. She said that she hoped they would mend their friendship.
“Craig says stuff ’bout Austen all the time. I never know if he’s gonna like, praise him, or if he’s gonna call him his enemy,” she stated.
Later, on the WWHL: After Show, Charley explained why she wasn’t interested in Shep Rose, 45.
“He reminds me of my dad. Like, he does. And I love my dad. I don’t want to date my dad. I don’t want to. He’s a sweetheart, though,” she shared.
Regarding whether Shep’s age played a role, Charley added, “It’s not the age. [The last season] was a little cringe, but it’s not even that. It’s just the vibe. [I] didn’t feel it.”
Southern Charm season 11 airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
