Brandi Glanville is feeling “great” after having her decades-old breast implants removed and replaced with new ones.
After her implants ruptured, clogging her lymph nodes and leading to facial disfigurement, the 53-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, who spent over $130,000 during her years-long battle, is ready to have her health restored as she is aided by two doctors, one of whom took the implants out, and another who is utilizing “lasers and different things.”
“We’re taking care of the face now that they’ve figured out what was wrong,” Brandi revealed to TMZ on February 18 as she was spotted exiting the office of her doctor, Dr. Robert G. Dorfman, in Beverly Hills, California. “I definitely had a parasite.”
According to Brandi, she was shocked to find herself experiencing facial disfigurement and further surprised by the news that her implants were the problem.
“They looked fine, they felt fine, the mammogram said they were fine. It wasn’t until I had a sonogram. I was just feeling, like, maybe just check that too. Why not? I’ve checked everything else. I went to 21 doctors. I’ve spent so much money. And there is such a thing as breast implant illness, and you really should change your breast implants out at 10 years, and I just didn’t do it. I’m like, ‘It’s not broke, don’t fix it.’ I learned a really, really hard lesson,” she explained.
“It sucks to age, like, 20 years overnight,” Brandi added.
Following her explant surgery, which was conducted by Dr. Ariel Ourian, she said she was doing much better.
“I feel great. He’s like, ‘Rest.’ I’m like, ‘I can’t rest. I’ve been home for three years,’” she noted.
While Brandi denied being against breast implants, she encouraged others to “stay on top of it” and have them checked, via sonograms, regularly.
“They’re expensive, yes, but [my breast implants] completely ruptured, and I had silicone all over my lymph nodes, and that’s what caused the infection in my face, and [it] couldn’t get out because my lymph nodes were all clogged,” she explained. “Just keep on checking on it. Even if it looks good and feels good, check ’em.”
Meanwhile, in a special segment for Inside Edition, Brandi took cameras inside her life-saving surgery.
“I just want to be healthy,” she revealed. “My hair is falling out, especially on the left side. I have lumps in my face, lumps in my neck … fatigue … I had a complete rupture on the right [and] a leak on the left.”
After Brandi stated that she was “feeling petrified” ahead of the surgery, her doctor revealed there was silicone “all over the place” as he described her case as “really complicated” and admitted he didn’t know what he was “going to find when [he got] in there.”
Once the surgery began, Brandi’s ruptured implant was said to be a “big gooey mess.”
“It is torn. It is ripped, and this is actually much worse than I had expected,” Dr. Ariel shared as he suctioned out the remaining pieces of silicone and replaced the old implants with fresh, new ones that have a lower risk of rupture.
One week later, Brandi, who confirmed she’d spent well into six figures, offered an update, sharing, “After just a week, my joints are different. I can sit down. I can get up right away. I don’t have to massage my neck all day long.”
“It’s been hell, and now I want to really live my life again,” she concluded.
