Charley Manley opened up about her decision to end things with Craig Conover after Wednesday night’s episode of Southern Charm.
After fans watched as Craig, 36, went on a drunken tirade against Salley Carson, 31, the previous week, telling her she was “dumb” and labeling her a “loser,” Charley, 28, reflected on her decision to stop pursuing Craig, 36, as Molly O’Connell, 38, suspected she didn’t “fully condemn” his behavior and Venita Aspen, 32, spoke of getting to know the newbie on a different level.
“I’m thankful that I had a friendship with Craig before trying to explore anything romantically. And I’m confident that, you know, me pumping the brakes on us romantically is not ruining our friendship. It was just very obvious to me in that moment that, you know, this is not, like, someone that I want to be, like, romantically involved with right now,” Charley explained on the March 4 episode of the Southern Charm: After Show.
According to Charley, she was already on the fence about Craig. So, when it came to his outburst, she found clarity.
“It was like, ‘Okay, now I know.’ But as a friend, I, like, wanted to be there for him, too. Like, ‘What’s going on, man? I feel like there’s, like, something going on, and I wanna help ya through it,'” she noted.
Then, after Molly hinted that the end of Charley and Craig’s romance wasn’t as”cut and dry” as it should’ve been, Salley disagreed.
“With me, she was like, ‘That was crazy, I’m not doing this anymore,'” she shared. “After this one, she was done.”
Still, while Molly acknowledged that Charley had made it clear that Craig’s behavior was not okay, she felt she could have done more.
“She was just like, ‘Look, what he did definitely made me think differently about him.’ [But] I don’t think she fully condemned it,” she stated.
Meanwhile, in her segment alongside Charley, Venita said she appreciated getting to know Charley better amid their yoga date with Molly.
“We were able to see Charley … who she is as an individual, and this is someone we can get to know. This is a different girl than we’ve seen all season in terms of building friendships and being out and about and happy-go-lucky. It was eye-opening in a good way,” she recalled. “I think that was the first time you’d had your own moment with girls in the group without everyone being involved and everyone having an opinion and putting in their two cents.”
“It was great,” Charley agreed. “I was excited that it was just the three of us.”
Southern Charm season 11 airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
