Ariana Biermann and Hudson McLeroy shared more insight into their breakup, as Ava Dash questioned the timing of it. Meanwhile, Hudson also addressed his “ulterior motive” in befriending Charlie Zakkour.

In the season two premiere of Next Gen NYC, Ariana and Hudson revealed they had parted ways 10 years after they started their on-off relationship. They split shortly before the season began filming, though they were spotted making out at the premiere party. In a trailer, the show seemed to tease a romance between Ariana and Charlie (Hudson’s former enemy).

On the Next Gen NYC After Show, Hudson said the split “was definitely Ariana’s decision.”

“He kind of just got lazy in the relationship,” Ariana explained. “We weren’t going on dates. He wasn’t complimenting me. He wasn’t, like, lifting me up. He was sitting on the couch. Like, I want you to have drive, I want you to have passion, I want you to do the things that make you happy, and all these different things. And that just didn’t happen.”

She claimed that Hudson’s “lies” also influenced it.

“My dad’s always told me, ‘All a man ever has is his word,'” she explained. “And his was demolished for me.” She said he “did not stick to what he said he was gonna do” after her probation started last year (after her alleged DUI).

“I was like, ‘We don’t need to drink. We can do all these fun things,'” said the star. “He didn’t come with me to some events, which really hurt my feelings. And I know it wasn’t his goal or intention, but just the way that the things were kind of going about, it kind of just felt s–tty, like he wasn’t supporting me.”

Ariana claimed her dad, Kroy Biermann, used to carry her mother Kim Zolciak’s purse “while she went on stage and did whatever she needed to do,” and Hudson didn’t support Ariana in this way amid her career as an influencer.

“You’ve watched me really work hard to try to get to where I am today,” she went on. “And it got to a point where it was like, I don’t want lies, I don’t want anything. I will literally work through anything in the whole entire world with somebody, if you’re honest. If you lie, I actually see no point and no purpose, and it shows that you have no respect for me. … I accept responsibility for my actions when I’m wrong, and I’ve had plenty of wrong decisions this year. But that’s how you live, and that’s how you learn, and that’s how you grow.”

In Hudson’s own interview, he shared that they “never would’ve split” if the decision “was up to” him, though he made certain “changes” because of it.

“Sometimes, in order for somebody to grow, you need to be put in, like, an uncomfortable position,” he said. “I wouldn’t’ve been able to make the changes I have if Ariana had stayed with me.”

Later in the After Show, Riley Burruss addressed the couple’s social media statements about the breakup. “You could’ve kept that post to yourself,” she said. Charlie added, “It’s a bit presumptuous to, like, feel the need to do that.”

Ava was skeptical about the timing of the breakup.

“She posted it like the day before we started filming,” said Ava. “I think that’s what gave, like, the idea that possibly it was for the show and maybe not real.” Georgia McCann then asked, “Is this to get us all talking about them? … If that was the goal, then it worked.”

At one point, Hudson shared why he decided in the new season to be friends with Charlie, his past enemy.

“Well, you know what they say. Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer,” said Hudson. “I was avoiding Charlie flirting with Ariana by being friends with him. … I tried to pull my own Charlie move. I tried to, like, be friends with somebody and have an ulterior motive. … And just like be really, really nice to them. But then secretly you’re just a total f—king a—hole trying to like get something out of them.”

“I should’ve known better that the devil always has a bigger and deeper plan than anybody ever realizes,” he teased, hinting at Ariana and Charlie’s romance.

In her own segment, Ariana commented, “I can’t seem to fathom, actually, why Hudson is hanging out with Charlie. … To start off with, him saying last year he wanted to f—k me, that’s the biggest thing. Crazy. … Hudson does sometimes like to play games, so maybe he thinks that if he’s friends with Charlie, Charlie won’t try anything with me.”

Hudson also hinted that he and Charlie have certain things in common. “Like Ariana likes to say, the absolute worst parts of me are everything that Charlie is,” said Hudson. As for their friendship, he added, “When you get in a bad headspace, I feel like you do things that kinda tend to hurt you rather than push you forward.”
