The Married at First Sight world was rocked yesterday by devastating news about one of the contestants from season two.

The second season of MAFS premiered in 2015 and took place in New York City and northern New Jersey.

Specifically, it was reported yesterday that the show’s star Ryan de Nino had died at 40 years old.

A family member confirmed the news to TMZ, saying he had passed away suddenly earlier this week in New Jersey.

At the time of the initial report, the family did not provide further details on his death.

His sister, Melissa, posted a tribute to her late brother online.

“Ryan was so d*mn funny and witty,” she wrote. “He was fiercely loyal to those he loved. He had a huge heart, always. I can’t explain what it’s like to lose a sibling. Someone who’s been there from the beginning and shares the same memories. No matter what we were going through, I loved him immensely. Life as I know it will never be the same.”

On the show, Ryan was paired with Jessica Castro and the two wed after meeting at the altar for the first time. The show culminates in a decision day, where contestants decide if they want to remain married or go their separate ways. Ryan and Jessica decided to stay together, but later split up after she filed a restraining order against him.

Jessica spoke to Page Six about his death

“I have not had contact with Ryan in years, so I have/had no idea what his life entailed,” she shared.

“However, I do send my sincerest condolences to his family during this very difficult time,” Jessica added. “I cannot imagine what they are going through. May he rest peacefully.”
