Captain Sandy Yawn and Hannah Ferrier shared a relationship update amid Hannah’s cameo on the new season of Below Deck Mediterranean. Hannah also revealed how her life has changed since Sandy fired her.
Hannah was the show’s chief stew from the very beginning — until Sandy fired her during season five, after discovering that Hannah had a vape pen and unregistered prescription meds on the boat.
But on the latest episode, Sandy addressed how she and Hannah made amends after a sit-down off camera. Sandy admitted that their last experience together on the show “didn’t end so great,” but this time around, Sandy actually helped Hannah in her covert trip from Australia to attend Aesha Scott’s bachelorette party as a surprise guest.
“Time could heal all wounds,” said Sandy in a confessional. “Last year in June, I reached out to Hannah.”
Hannah added in her own confessional, “We just sat down, and she told her truth, I told my truth, and we just let bygones be bygones.”
“We hugged it out, forgave each other, and now we’re in a great place,” said Sandy.
Hannah shared that Sandy has since met her husband, Josh Roberts, and their daughter, Ava, who’s five. Hannah has also spent time with Leah Shafer, Sandy’s wife. “We’ve got quite a nice friendship growing,” shared the alum.
Hannah revealed that her life has “done an entire 180” since she left the show.
“I got married, we bought a house, I had my beautiful daughter, Ava,” Hannah explained. “The one thing I miss about yachting is we just form these bonds that are very hard to find in other places in your life. … And what I don’t miss is the hours, the small bunks, having no choice about what you eat, the hierarchy. My gosh, I have so many more things that I don’t miss than I do miss!”
Back in season five, Sandy addressed why she fired Hannah.
“It’s out of my hands,” said Sandy at the time. “If [the crew has] to take medication, it goes into the medical locker that’s in a keyed locker. … [I] had all the compassion in the world for Hannah.”
Hannah later expressed to Bravo Insider, “I feel like I should’ve been given at least the respect of a sit-down conversation. … It could’ve been a back-and-forth, as opposed to such a drastic measure taken without so much as a conversation after. You know, that was my fifth season with Below Deck, so I was really disappointed in that. But then, I also know that at the end of the day, she is the captain.”
