The Duggar family, who rose to fame from their show 19 Kids and Counting, has certainly been through a lot of tumultuous situations in the past.
Some of these include the eldest sibling Josh Duggar being charged with and convicted of one count of receiving child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography and Joseph Duggar being charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim under 12 years old and lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by an adult.
Recently, Duggar sisters Joy-Anna Forsyth and Jinger Vuolo addressed some of the terrible things that have occurred in their family on an episode of The Jinger and Jeremy Podcast.
When asked about the hardest periods of her life, Joy-Anna, 28, said, “Family stuff has probably been the other thing. Like, we’ve had wave after wave of just sickening, horrible things happening.”
“And it really just sends me into a spiral,” she continued. “Those have been really hard seasons, and I feel like I’m coming out of that finally with this last run we went through of family stuff. It just feels like, you know, sin is so dark and so heavy. It’s hard to find true joy… it’s like, happiness is circumstantial.”
She noted that her kids have helped her when going through tough situations like Joseph and Josh’s ordeals, but admitted that “it is really hard to find joy in those hard, hard moments.”
Jinger, 32, also discussed dealing with “family issues.”
“There have been so many seasons and trials that I did not expect,” she stated. “Like, especially when it’s related to, you know, people that you love and even in your family. I don’t know. That stuff hits me harder.”
Joseph was initially arrested back in March and is due back in court later this month.
His wife, Kendra, was also arrested days after he was.
An insider who spoke to PEOPLE at the time claimed that her arrest “was a result of a home inspection, and the door locks being on the exterior of the doors.” There has been speculation that authorities found locks on the exterior of the kids’ bedroom doors.
A spokesperson for the Duggar family shared at the time that Kendra’s charges were “totally unrelated” to Joseph’s.
“She’s not suspected or accused of participating in his alleged crime,” they explained.
