The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Taylor Frankie Paul has been in the news a lot as of late.
Most recently, she made headlines when she took to Instagram to reveal she was leaving the show.
Taylor, 32, also stunned fans when she revealed she’d gotten engaged on her unaired season of The Bachelorette.
While Doug Mason, the man she got engaged to, has stayed quiet after Taylor’s claim, he finally broke his silence via his Instagram Story yesterday.
“Let’s talk about The Bachelorette,” Doug, 29, began. “That experience has been looming in my life for some time, and although I’ve been moved on for a long time, I think it’s important that I expressed to you guys that I have.”
Doug noted he was “extremely grateful for the opportunity to go on the show, and I met some brothers, and I learned a lot about myself.”
“I have officially moved on, and this is me saying that I am going that way, so I hope that everybody can understand that it was in my past and now focusing on my future,” he concluded.
Taylor confessed the news about getting engaged to Doug to her SLOMW co-stars on the latest season.
“[I said,] ‘Yes.’ Yes, I did [get engaged],” she shared. “Then, I come home. Obviously [me and Dakota] were texting. ‘When are you going to be home?’ I don’t know how it led to it, but he came over.”
She then admitted she and Dakota, 33, had hooked up.
As fans recall, Taylor’s season of The Bachelorette was canceled after a video of an explosive confrontation she had with Dakota years ago was leaked.
On March 19, in a statement to TMZ, a spokesperson for Disney Entertainment said, “In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of ‘The Bachelorette’ at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family.”
Taylor’s rep spoke out soon after the show’s airing was canceled.
“Taylor is very grateful for ABC’s support as she prioritizes her family’s safety and security. After years of silently suffering extensive mental and physical abuse as well as threats of retaliation, Taylor is finally gaining the strength to face her accuser and taking steps to ensure that she and her children are protected from any further harm,” they said to PEOPLE.
“There are too many women who are suffering in silence as they survive aggressive, jealous ex-partners who refuse to let them move on with their lives,” her rep continued. “Taylor has remained silent out of fear of further abuse, retaliation and public shaming. She is currently exploring all of her options, seeking support, and preparing to own and share her story.”
