The Real Housewives of New Jersey alum Kim DePaola has never been one to shy away from sharing her thoughts on everything related to the show.

Recently, Kim shared a video that she is taking a lot of heat for.

Specifically, in the clip on Instagram, Kim is seen moving to Marvin Gaye‘s What’s Going On? while photos of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Mary Cosby‘s late son Robert Cosby Jr., airport footage from RHONJ star Teresa Giudice‘s daughter Milania‘s airport incident, pictures of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak‘s son Kroy “KJ” Jagger Biermann Jr., and more are shown.

“What’s going on?😩” Kim captioned the video. “Sometimes you don’t dance because you’re celebrating… you dance because you’re processing. 🕊️ There’s been a LOT going on. So much loss, so much chaos, family drama, heartbreak, mental health struggles, and things happening in the world that leave you asking one simple question… What’s going on? This one hits a little differently.”

Kim was quickly slammed over the footage, as some critics were disturbed that she’d be dancing over the footage she showed due to the heartbreaking and personal nature of these incidents.

Never one to backpedal, Kim took to her Instagram Story to defend herself.

“Let me make something very clear,” she said. “The video that I made, I was not dancing; I was moving to music that moved me. I lost someone that was a son to me to fentanyl. It changed me forever. I have never been the same, ever. Okay? This is warfare against our children. Fentanyl is warfare. I did the video to open eyes.”

Kim added, “Anyone who would think I would do it to celebrate or do anything like that, you are the haters, and you are the vile people. So you can say whatever you want about me, you can do whatever you want to me. I get that, and I take it. But I would never celebrate anyone else’s pain, okay? I have that pain. I live with that pain of losing a young boy to fentanyl. Okay? So I just needed to clear that up.”

After Instagram account @bravosnarkside shared the video, which they captioned, “Girl what,” Kim took to the comments to speak out.

“Only people who are filled with hate would take this video the wrong way!” Kim replied. “I lost a boy to fentanyl, he was like a son to me! I just wanted to bring attention to this warfare!”

Kim also spoke exclusively to Reality Blurb about the person she mentioned she lost to fentanyl, William Lafontaine, who died in 2019.

“He was a son to me, lived with my mother and me, and died of fentanyl,” she said. “The people that are saying I was saying or doing anything negative are strictly haters! I have been getting major love on my DMs with stories of people’s tragedies.”
