Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney‘s sandwich shop, Something About Her, has reportedly taken a “downward turn” since its opening in May 2024.
While the Vanderpump Rules alums continue to pay rent in the high-cost area of West Hollywood, California, an insider claims that business has “[plummeted],” resulting in a concerned team, who is allegedly worried that the restaurant could follow in the footsteps of Schwartz & Sandy’s, the former bar of Tom Sandoval, 43, and Tom Schwartz, 43.
“Business is down exponentially from last year,” a source told The U.S. Sun on November 27. “The restaurant gets about a fraction of the number of people who came last year. It’s hard to say an exact number, but business has taken a huge downward turn. It’s so much slower and there hasn’t been a need to staff as many people. So many of the restaurants in this area are closing and staffers are afraid SAH will be next.”
According to the report, Something About Her had lines for months after it opened, likely the result of Ariana, 40, and Katie, 38, detailing the venture on Pump Rules. But that’s no longer the case. And with rent increasing in the area, it’s no wonder that employees are concerned.
“They need more regular customers. One of the problems they face is that a majority of the customer base is tourists who are in town on vacation, come once, and don’t return again,” the insider continued.
Additionally, Ariana and Katie, who initially made regular appearances at the venue, are “very rarely, if ever” in the shop these days.
Still, the insider added, “the rent is paid,” so Something About Her “is not going anywhere anytime soon.”
At the sandwich shop, whose decor was inspired by Nancy Meyers films, patrons can buy sandwiches for between $14 and $18, and drinks, like beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages, including Olipop, for $8. The restaurant also offers baked goods and other sweet treats.
