Lisa Vanderpump opened up about where she stands with Kristen Doute while appearing on Tom Schwartz‘s podcast.
As she also shared her thoughts on the new cast of Vanderpump Rules, compared them to the OGs, and defended the show against criticism, the 65-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum admitted that when it came to Kristen, 42, they’ve “never had a great relationship.”
“[Kristen] was always very complicated,” Lisa shared on the December 16 episode of PodcastOne’s Detox Retox with Tom Schwartz. “But I have, on any occasion I’ve been asked about Kristen, wished her well. She’s a new mother and she’s growing up, so that’s really good to see that there’s progress and she’s in a happier place than she was and she’s got a lovely baby, so that’s fantastic.”
According to Lisa, she believes in the new cast of Pump Rules because, “most importantly,” she “[likes] each and every one of them.”
“They’ve all got stories that have got a lot of depth [and] they’ve got great personal stories as well. So as you get to know them, I think you’ll fall in love,” she revealed.
Then, when Schwartz said he was “invested,” Lisa threw some shade at unnamed OGs of her series.
“That’s very kind of you because not all of your friends, should we say, have been quite as supportive,” she noted.
As for how the chemistry differs between the newbies and the OGs, Lisa gave a nod to the way season one began.
“On Vanderpump Rules, it was an existing group, and then [Tom Schwartz] joined the cast, [Scheana Shay] came from Villa Blanca, and [Jax Taylor] kind of joined pretty late to the game, I mean, even though he’s in the first episode, he hadn’t worked there, so to speak. He just occasionally worked as a bartender, but you know, you put everybody together and sh*t happens, and that’s what happens here,” she explained.
During another interview, Lisa defended the Pump Rules reboot, which has faced rumors of an impending cancellation, despite reaching the top spot on Peacock.
“Screw the naysayers!” Lisa told Page Six on December 16. “I’m very excited about the new cast. Hopefully this time next year they’ll be a pain in my ass, because that’s when you know the show’s a success!”
As fans may have seen, an insider told The U.S. Sun earlier this month that Bravo execs were struggling with the reboot.
“They don’t find the show to be as good, that’s the biggest issue,” the source alleged. “The cast is not landing with the audience like the network thought before they filmed, and this big revival turned out to be a letdown.”
Vanderpump Rules season 12 airs Mondays at 9/8c on Bravo.
