Austen Kroll got flirty with Molly O’Connell during their group trip to Mexico amid Southern Charm season 11.
Although it was Salley Carson, 31, who made it overwhelmingly clear that she was interested in him after he and Audrey Pratt called it quits, Austen, 38, chose to get back in the flirting game with some playful banter with Molly, 38.
“I tried to dip my toe in the water, and, like, flirt with Molly a little bit,” Austen admitted on the February 18 episode of the Southern Charm: After Show.
Unfortunately, Molly was unaware of his playful pursuit.
“I am oblivious to that kind of stuff. I think I just feel like, ‘Oh, I’m gross.’ Or like, ‘Oh, there’s no way he’s hitting on me. He must just be being funny.’ I don’t even remember what he said,” she noted. “[Shep Rose] came to me and was like, ‘So, Austen said that he hit on you, and you just completely stonewalled him.’ And I was like, ‘When?’ Like, I can’t even rack my mind to remember what he said that was flirty, because I think I just, like, blow it off as, like, just being funny.”
“I think that’s a deeper issue of mine is that I like assume that people aren’t into me because I don’t feel that great about myself sometimes, so I had no idea,” she continued. “I didn’t mean to be, like, rude, and like, ‘Oh shut up Austen,’ when he was apparently hitting on me, so I, I don’t even remember what he said.”
According to Austen, he was just making “small talk” with Molly.
“But I was only talking to her, and Molly was so unaware or just uninterested that I was trying to,” he explained.
Looking back, Austen added that he didn’t intend for his flirting to go anywhere.
“I didn’t know what would’ve happened had she been like, ‘Hey, big boy,’ I don’t think anything would’ve happened, but it was, like, my first attempt at, like, flirting with somebody post [split],” he shared. “I was flirting, but that doesn’t mean I was like … it was just like an interesting, like I’m playfully flirting … I didn’t want it to go anywhere, I don’t think. It was just like, alright, let’s pull out the old playbook.”
Also on the After Show, Salley said that while she didn’t see Austen’s efforts with Molly, she heard about them.
“He said, like, ‘She has curves in all the right places.’ And I’m like, ‘Hype me up, Austen,'” Molly recalled. “He loves some curves and, girl, I’ve got a donk.”
“If there’s one thing I know about Austen, he loves a big booty,” Salley agreed.
