Vanderpump Rules alum Stassi Schroeder is facing massive backlash for dieting for months to walk in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Show.
In the show, Stassi was one of many stars who appeared alongside Bethenny Frankel and Molly Sims.
A source divulged to The Daily Mail that Stassi, 37, “really wanted to look incredible for the show so went on a massive diet.”
“She skipped breakfast, had only a salad for lunch and then did not touch a carb after 5pm, so she was having only about 600 calories a day,” they alleged. “The weight just melted off her body, but that kind of diet is very hard to do because the cravings are insane, Stassi said. It’s not easy for her to diet that hardcore, but the results are amazing and she felt great about herself.”
Due to her dieting for the show, Stassi faced some backlash on Instagram.
“No one should ever do this; it’s not a diet, it’s starvation and disordered eating!” one user claimed.
“Promoting 600 calories a day is not cool, healthy, fun, safe, doable, reasonable, etc!!!! Why are we even calling attention to this?” another Instagram member griped.
“Someone dies every 90 seconds from an eating disorder-related illness,” a third person piped in to share. “And this is super sad. She’s a mom of a daughter. This is so unhealthy.”
An ED dietician also commented, writing, “Anyone reading this, please know 600 calories is dangerously too low. This should not be promoted as a normalized behavior.”
Stassi previously shared that she uses intermittent fasting to stay healthy.
She detailed that upon waking, she has a can of the energy drink Celsius and skips breakfast. Then, for lunch, she likes a salad with chicken, lettuce, carrots, ginger, and almonds. Prior to 6 PM, she has a snack so she doesn’t go to bed hungry. She also has a lot of water and, sometimes, some wine.
Stassi has not, to date, responded to any of the criticism of her alleged Sports Illustrated diet.
