Kailyn Lowry took aim at MTV and their lies in her just-released book, A Letter of Love.
According to a series of excerpts from the publication, the Teen Mom 2 star spoke about how her production team lied to get into the delivery room as she welcomed her son Isaac and revealed how the show contributed to the demise of her marriage to Javi Marroquin.
“They lie by the way,” she wrote of MTV, according to a Radar Online report on September 27.
As Kailyn explained, her film crew posed as members of her family to get footage of Isaac’s birth for 16 & Pregnant.
“In order for them to be there, we had to tell the hospitals staff that they were my cousins who wanted to film the birth. Looking back, that was kind of f**ked up,” she recalled.
As for her marriage to Javi, Kailyn believes things may have gone differently between them if their relationship wasn’t exposed on a reality show.
“Reality television is a very strange thing to be a part of, especially in the way that we are involved,” she explained. “Our family’s demise was caught between the editing to make the shows make sense to the viewers and the paychecks that we were hard pressed to get.”
“We were fighting constantly and not even sleeping in the same bed. I was overcome and filled with doubt at all times,” Kailyn continued. “I was trying to convince myself that things would get better in time, but they never did. The reality was that I had been in search of a lie, and it wasn’t because we didn’t love each other. I would venture to say that it was because it was never meant to be. I was in search of happiness, but I kept coming up short.”
Also in her new book, Kailyn explained why she appears “cold” and “heartless” at times.
“In some moments, I didn’t want to cry or look a certain way, but in the end, it has backfired on me,” she admitted. “I’ve looked at past seasons, and I think to myself that I m not the b***h that I appeared to be. I’m a compassionate person who is emotionally weak, but I often try to hide or shield myself from hurt.”
“When I try to protect these emotions and not be open and raw, I create a barrier between who people believe me to be and who I am. People hate me because they think that I am so heartless and calculated, but that’s not me at all. I would give the shirt off my back to someone in need, however, not a lot of people realize that about me,” she added.
Teen Mom 2 season nine is currently in production and expected to air on MTV sometime later this year or early next year.
