Ex RHOC Star Vicki Gunvalson Faces Backlash After Begging California Governor to Reopen Small Businesses Including Nail and Hair Salons

Vicki Gunvalson is under fire on Twitter after requesting Gavin Newsom, the Governor of California, reopen small businesses, including hair salons, nail salons, and restaurants, starting on May 1.

After sending a message to the Governor in which she noted that healthy Americans should be able to get back to work, the former Real Housewives of Orange County cast member, who owns an insurance business in Irvine, was blasted by her fans and followers for putting her own selfish desires ahead of the health and well-being of others.

“Let’s get America who is healthy back to work. We need hairdressers, nail techs, small business’s and restaurants to start reopening May 1st. Please?” Vicki tweeted to the politician on Monday, April 20.

In response to her tweet, one person accused Vicki of wanting to “WHOOP IT UP” while people are dying.

“Nope, reread this again. I said nothing about whooping it up,” Vicki replied. “I said we need to get back to work. Been in quarantine for 2 months as I’m sure you have.”

As many noted, the stay-at-home order has actually been in place since March 19, which is just over one month ago.

“It’s been one month,” one person noted.

“You’ve been self quarantining since Feb 20?” another asked.

In another response to Vicki’s initial tweet to the governor, a fan named Phillip said simply, “Vicki, no.”

“Never? You think we should stay closed forever?” Vicki replied.

“Definitely not forever, but we have the privilege of working from home & don’t have to be out there risking an infection & spreading it to others,” Phillip continued. “It’s definitely way too soon to start our normal life again & we don’t need to double our deaths because we want to get our hair done.”

Another fan also noted that one’s vanity should not come before human life.

“Don’t be obtuse… Phillip didn’t say never,” a woman wrote in response to Vicki’s clap back. “Businesses will open when they open. Certain comforts can wait, be patient and value human life. Don’t be so out of touch that you lose sight of what’s important (hint: it’s not hair and nails).”

As RHOC fans may recall, Vicki first garnered backlash last month when she compared the coronavirus to the flu and said she didn’t care about it on an episode of her podcast.

“I think everybody’s gone crazy. This is the flu. I’m not freaked out about it,” Vicki said on Whoop It Up with Vicki. “The Lord has already determined when we’re going to die and how we’re going to die so literally, I don’t care.”

Vicki announced her exit from RHOC in January.
