Fans are slamming Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah for being “tone-deaf” after launching a new merch line of clothing profiting off of her upcoming trial. She’s been charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with telemarketing and conspiracy to commit money laundering.
Jen’s trial was originally set for March of this year but was later postponed to July.
I guess this gave Jen the time to put together her latest merch venture to possibly raise money for her trial and simultaneously maintain her innocence.
In a video she posted to Instagram, she shared the first images of her line with T-shirts, hoodies, and a jacket all bearing slogans like, “FreeJenShah,” and, “Not Guilty,” alongside the now-infamous image of her leaving jail that was captured on Bravo cameras.
Jen’s RHOSLC costar, Meredith Marks, gave her approval in the comments with a heart emoji. Interesting since they had been feuding all last season.
In a separate post by her merch partnership company, Rebel P Customs, the company promoted the line and stood proudly alongside Jen’s claims of innocence in a lengthy post.
“Two people from different backgrounds have become as close as sisters because of an injustice. I will stand by my friend Jen because I know her, I know her heart,” the statement reads. “She is nothing but kind, caring, and doesn’t ask for anything other than friendship. …I will always speak up for what I believe in, it doesn’t matter to me how popular or unpopular it makes me. I too have been the victim of a false accusation and everyone I thought I had in my corner vanished. I will stand next to Jen, no matter what. The fakers can exit stage left or right. We don’t need them,” the caption read.
Jen jumped in as well, saying, “Thank you for being here for me and my family. Listening when no one else would and wiping my tears when I didn’t want anyone to see me crying. Your thoughtfulness and genuine love and kindness have been a blessing in my life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being by my side through this. I love you deep sis.”
The price point of the merch ranges from $25 to $120 depending on which articles of clothing you are purchasing.
Needless to say, fans were not here for Jen’s profiteering. Even though Jen set her comment section to “limited,” that did not stop fans from going to Reddit to react to the news.
One user commented, “Is she really THAT out of touch?”
Another added, “She bilked her own mother out of her life savings to pay her legal fees, all the while ‘swearing’ that she was innocent. Yup, she’s that out of touch.”
“She can’t be that tone deaf can she????”
Avid Housewives watcher and commentator @JustinAnderson posted this clip captured by @commentsbybravo asking why Jen isn’t getting the same heated treatment from Andy and Bravo that they gave fellow lawsuit riddled RHOBH housewife Erika Jayne.
This caught Jen’s attention, and she commented back because “I’m Innocent.”
Jen’s even gone on record requesting Kim Kardashian be a part of her legal team.
“I was dead serious [about wanting Kardashian], because at this point I’m feeling like I’m wrongly accused of something,” Jen said. “I don’t know what the hell is going on.” She added, “That b**ch gets sh*t handled”
