Real Housewives of New York City star Sonja Morgan stepped out onto the town with elusive daughter Quincy Adams Morgan, who was making an extremely rare public appearance for the premiere of the new Downtown Abbey movie, Downtown Abby: A New Era.
Sonja, who has been a staple on RHONY for almost a decade (appearing in seasons three through 13), rarely showed Quincy while filming the show.
The mother-daughter appearance came on the heels of Quincy returning home from the University of Pennsylvania, where she attends college. The appearance was for a belated Mother’s Day outing.
Sonja took to her Instagram to post a photo of Quincy coming down some stairs in a classy black ensemble and flowing blonde locks, captioning the photo, “Watching your daughter step out at #downtonabbey #premiere #themovie???? @downtonabbey_official”
Quincy also took to her own Instagram to share photos of the pair’s night out, captioning the slideshow, “Leaving the house on a Sunday night for @downtonabbey_official and @sonjatmorgan Mother’s Day weekend make up????”
Quincy just made her Instagram public last year. She had steered clear of Bravo cameras for years, but she then had a change of heart, saying she never thought would be making her social media public, but she’s welcoming “everyone along for the ride.”
At the event, Sonja also told Page Six, “I’m back in New York. I’m moving back into the townhouse. Excited about my comedy tour, my sangria. My daughter is here for the summer.” She then added, “She’s in Ivy League in Philadelphia, so we don’t see each other on a daily basis.”
As viewers know, The Real Housewives of New York City has been put through the wringer after last season’s terrible performance, polarizing content, and racial allegations — so much so that the franchise is being completely rebooted and separated into two separate shows. One will feature an all-new cast and one will feature legacy cast members.
Sonja took the opportunity to defend her sometimes questionable behavior on the franchise, saying she makes for great television, but she added that no news has been released on who has been asked back.
“You think that I’m important to the show? I mean, I’m the comic relief, I’m the hot mess. The hot mess success!” Sonja said.
She continued by adding, “’Housewives’ are known for letting it all down, letting their hair down, showing what’s behind closed doors. That’s part of the territory, when people go behind closed doors and you’re partying on a trip, it can get kinda messy. We fall in bushes, and we wake up in somebody else’s swimsuit, but it’s always a great time.”
