In 2020, Braunwyn Windham-Burke came out as gay. At the time, few of her Real Housewives of Orange County costars were supportive. Most of them believed she was happily married to her husband, Sean.

Now, two years later, Braunwyn and her ex are technically still married — and they have no plans to divorce. The star is currently in a relationship with model Victoria Brito, who lives in New York. Her husband is also dating, and Braunwyn splits her time between Orange County and the Big Apple.

According to an interview with Us Weekly, some of Braunwyn’s kids are still adjusting to her new relationship.

“It depends on the kid,” she said. “They haven’t all taken it the same.”

The 44-year-old continued, “My oldest daughter, Bella, she’s still struggling with it… Not with the fact that I’m dating a woman, ’cause we are a very open family. You know, we’ve always been big supporters of the LGBTQ community, even before they could walk. We were going to marches in D.C. when they were in strollers. So that wasn’t the issue.”

Braunwyn said it’s “hard” for Bella to see her parents moving on. “She’s 21,” said the star. “She grew up with a certain family and, you know, that’s close to her heart.”

According to Braunwyn, her second-oldest daughter Rowan is a different story — and she “loves” Victoria. “They get along great,” said Braunwyn. “Jacob is a 16-year-old boy. He’s like, ‘Whatever, I don’t care.’ And the little kids, you know, as far as they know, it’s just more people that love them. And that’s sort of how Sean and I have presented this to them. Our family isn’t splitting up. Our family is growing.”

Initially, her coparenting relationship wasn’t easy. “There was definitely some hurdles, some bumps in the road,” she explained. “[Sean and I] had to work through some really hard things. There’s been some really trying times, but right now it’s really good. We’re coparents, we’re partners in life. You know, we’re definitely working toward the same goals and we’re getting along really well.”

The star added, “I think at the end of the day, we’re best friends.”
