In March 2022, Katie Maloney filed for divorce from estranged husband Tom Schwartz. The 39-year-old, who was in a relationship with Katie for more than a decade, admitted he was the problem of their marriage, but he also expressed it was Katie’s decision to end it.
Although the breakup shocked many fans of Vanderpump Rules, the couple has remained amicable, which is a dramatic shift from the typical Bravo split. Some viewers, however, take this as a sign that they may reconcile in the future.
In an interview with HollywoodLife, Schwartz said “never say never” regarding a possible reconciliation with Katie.
“As of now, we’re on indefinite hiatus,” he said mysteriously. “We still love and support each other. I’m a huge Maloney champion. I will support her in everything she does. She’s killing it and hitting her stride. The podcast is crushing it.”
Schwartz also told the outlet, “Me and Katie are still very close. Can you have a joint divorce party?… Full transparency, it’s been nice. Me and Katie still have a deep bond, we still love each other… We have joint custody of the dogs. It feels really good to say that I have zero bitterness or anger. I still love her.”
He seemingly addressed the breakup while describing his new cocktail lounge with Tom Sandoval. “We wanted this [bar] to be a little escape,” said Schwartz. “A little departure from reality… not that I’m deep into escapism but it’s been a rough year.”
During a separate interview with Page Six, Schwartz addressed his new reality. “I’m sort of relearning how to be single, which is strange,” he said.
“He hasn’t even had time to be single!” replied Sandoval, who was present in the interview. Schwartz then explained, “This [business] has been a great thing to focus on.”
According to the outlet, Katie was present at the bar’s soft opening, and the exes appeared to be friendly.
Is this another sign of their possible future? Some fans, of course, believe the couple is over for good with no hope of reconciliation. Others are inclined to believe in a little magic. As of now, the cards are still unread.
