On a previous episode of Southern Charm, Craig Conover insinuated that his buddy Shep Rose was unfaithful to his then-girlfriend Taylor Ann Green — more than once.
Now, after the words were broadcast to hundreds of thousands of viewers, the 33-year-old appears to be walking back his statements.
In an interview with Us Weekly, Craig decided to clarify the comments.
“What it was based on, you know, [is that] in the beginning of their relationship there was stuff,” he said, referring to Shep’s admission to kissing another woman. “I brought it up on last year’s reunion and I know that they had worked through stuff before. That’s really all I needed to have the opinion that I had, which is [that] in any relationship where there’s infidelity, there’s gonna be serious trust issues that [are] a lot of the times impossible to heal.”
During the infamous episode, Craig had stated to Austen Kroll: “Taylor thinks it’s only a campfire. What Shep’s freaking out about is there are landmines and accelerant and gasoline all over… You know s–t, I know s–t, everyone knows s–t except for Taylor.”
Craig previously told the outlet that he and Austen tried their “hardest” to stay out of Shep’s drama with Taylor, but Craig eventually unleashed his opinions (as evidenced by the controversial comment).
“I’m not sure how the rest of their stuff’s gonna play out [in the season], especially with current events going on,” stated Craig, alluding to Shep and Taylor’s July breakup. “I know we’ve got our reunion coming up and I have no idea what to expect. But I’m sure there will be plenty to talk about.”
Speaking with People, Craig also discussed another relationship — his own with Summer House star Paige DeSorbo.
While the Bravo colleagues are not engaged, they’re apparently having convos about weddings. Craig’s dream is a “laid-back” event, but “Paige’s vision is completely different than mine.”
“The reason I ended up moving to the Bahamas for that year or two was because of a wedding I went to in Abaco and when you got to the wedding, everyone was barefoot …. It was just so laid-back and everyone spent a week there,” he said.
This was the inspiration for his own vision. “I want to have a big welcome crab feast when everyone gets there, and then I want to have the rehearsal dinner on Thursday, a party Friday and the wedding Saturday and a brunch Sunday,” he added. “But you know, I am just a boy that has never really looked into all of this.”
Craig added, “I don’t think Paige wants a beach wedding.”
“She’s OK with it being like a four- to five-day experience,” he said. “[But] I think her vision is somewhere in Italy.”
