After a three-year prison sentence, Joe Giudice was deported back to Italy – over 4,000 miles from his family and friends. Four years after the deportation, his ex-wife Teresa Giudice sold their former mansion, where the couple filmed numerous scenes on Real Housewives of New Jersey.
Teresa and Joe raised their four children in the house until October 2014, which was when the pair was convicted of conspiracy to commit mail fraud, failing to pay taxes, bankruptcy fraud, and wire fraud. Last December, the house was put on the market (again) after a previous offer fell through.
According to property records per The Post, Joe received nothing from the sale of the mansion, which remained on the market for 16 months.
“The seller is not receiving net proceeds from the sale. Net proceeds from the sale means the net amount due to the seller on the settlement sheet,” the document said of Joe, via Daily Mail. Meanwhile, Teresa received “100% of the $2 million.”
However, the “mounting debt” of the couple’s “past fraud cases essentially left [Teresa] with nothing.”
“At the end of the day, neither one of them received any proceeds from the house,” the insider shared. “Teresa didn’t get money. Joe didn’t get money.”
The source continued, “They had a mountain of debt, which they discussed in divorce.”
The 10,000-square-foot mansion boasts six bedrooms and five and a half baths. The couple spent $530,000 to pay for the customized home in 2002.
Eighteen years later, Teresa received ownership of the house through their divorce.
“In our divorce settlement, I get the house, and Joe walked away with nothing because I paid off all his debt,” said the mother-of-four in a past interview with Bravo.
After saying goodbye to her home, Teresa moved in with then-boyfriend Luis Ruelas in a $3.35M mansion they purchased as a couple. Less than a year later, Teresa and Luis tied the knot.
