Melissa Gorga approved a post that was seemingly derogatory toward her brother-in-law Luis Ruelas, and she suggested she’s held to a higher standard than Teresa Giudice. For many years, Melissa has been accused of riding the coattails of her famous sister-in-law, an original castmate on Real Housewives of New Jersey.
Recently, her co-star Margaret Josephs seemed to cast doubt on Luis’ career after targeting him for an entire season. Margaret has also been accused of using Teresa to gain relevance.
When fan account @bravohousewives posted a headline of Margaret being “on the fence” about what Luis does for a living, Melissa hit the ‘like’ button, which seemed to show everyone that she approved of Margaret’s words. The ‘like’ was captured in a screenshot by @allabouttrh on Instagram.
Around the same time, Melissa suggested on her On Display podcast that Teresa and some co-stars get a “pass” for certain behavior, but Melissa would be criticized for doing the same thing.
At first, the 43-year-old spoke generally, saying she wouldn’t name names. Eventually, however, Melissa cited Teresa as an example.
“Certain people are held [to] different standards,” she explained to husband Joe Gorga, via Heavy. “There’s very specific people that both of us surround ourselves with or even sometimes we’re forced to be around and definitely there’s family members and cast members that are just held to a different standard than I am.”
The star shared she’s “sick” of this, and she believes it isn’t “fair” that others “get a pass.” Melissa added, “I feel like some of the other women that I’m around and some family members, it’s like if they do it it’s okay sometimes because it’s like they get a pass… That’s not fair, right? … I’m just over giving certain people passes.”
Apparently, Melissa finds it “funny” when viewers claim she’s discussing her in-laws for “storylines.” According to Melissa, she hasn’t addressed Teresa since the reunion – except at BravoCon, because they “had no choice.”
“For instance, Teresa speaking about me on her own podcast [“Namaste B$tches”] for over 30 minutes,” said Melissa. “I’m just like, if I did that, she or anyone that listens to us would never let us live it down. And I just think it’s unfair that the expectations for each of us is different. And that I’m sometimes held to a higher standard.”
Joe added that he’ll always “be the better person.” The husband then expressed, “Let people bark, who cares, cause their bark is not that loud.”
