VIDEO: Footage of RHONJ’s Danielle Cabral’s Reality Show Past Unearthed, See He TV Debut as She Attempts to Become an Actress in Staten Island

Real Housewives of New Jersey star Danielle Cabral is already stirring up drama on her debut season of the hit Bravo franchise. The Bougie Kidz founder had some practice, though. As it turns out, Danielle came prepared as she is no stranger to reality television.

If Danielle looks familiar, it’s because the Staten Island, New York, native appeared on MTV’s iconic True Life series almost 20 years ago in 2006. She appeared in an episode entitled, “True Life: I’m a Staten Island Girl.”

Back then, Danielle aspired to become an actress, and the series followed her to acting classes and attending an audition. Though the acting may not have fully worked out, she still made it onto the silver screen with RHONJ, and fans are already calling her “extra” and “over the top.” It seems Danielle’s always been that way.

In a new TikTok clip, footage of “big personality” Danielle’s reality television debut has found its way online. Check it out below to see for yourself.

During a March appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Danielle doesn’t look back at that time with fond memories. The episode caused conflict with the Staten Island community, who thought the show would give the NYC adjacent neighborhood a bad rap.

“I got a lot of heat for [True Life]. A ton,” Danielle told host Andy Cohen, noting that her fellow Staten Island residents weren’t thrilled with the cameras. “Yeah, they were not happy about it. Even during filming, it was very hard. They were not nice. They weren’t nice, so I was very nervous going into [RHONJ] of all things. It wasn’t so much of what I did, it was the kind of rep we gave Staten Island. Because it was before Jersey Shore, it was before shows came out, and people were like, ‘Oh my god, Staten Island, who are these people?!’ And they had a problem with it.”

The criticism didn’t seem to faze Danielle. She followed up her True Life appearance with HGTV’s Family Under Construction in 2014 alongside her husband, Nate Cabral, for eight episodes.

At the time, Danielle said that dealing with the construction and having to film confessionals was taxing and stressful.

“On top of a crazy remodel schedule, working full time jobs and trying to enjoy being newlyweds we had to film a television series,” Danielle told The Herald News back in September 2014. “In between ripping down walls and nailing in wood, we had to film interviews about what we just did! It was an experience we all will never forget.”

It seems as if she’s got the confessionals down to a science now that she’s on RHONJ.

Catch Danielle’s antics on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, which airs Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. EST on Bravo.
