Real Housewives of New York City alum Bethenny Frankel hasn’t been on the show since 2019, but that hasn’t stopped fans from tracking her every move.
One of the things that has always fascinated them about Bethenny, 55, is her contentious relationship with her ex-husband, Jason Hoppy.
As those who have followed her journey know, Jason, 55, is the father of Bethenny’s daughter Bryn Hoppy, 16.
While she rarely talks about Jason, Bethenny made a comment about him on the Friends Keep Secrets episode that dropped yesterday.
“We do coexist on this earth. We do both exist on this earth, so that’s positive,” Bethenny stated. “It’s been a strained year; it’s been a challenging year.”
The pair got married and welcomed their daughter in 2010, but they separated in 2012, at which point Bethenny and Jason fought over Bryn.
In 2021, their divorce was finalized, and a judge ruled that Bethenny did not have to pay Jason child support any longer as Bryn mostly lives with her.
“There were a lot of circumstances that have been, that are… torture, like, traumatic,” she said regarding their co-parenting arrangement. “Like, 10 years [in court] for a two-year marriage and, like, every single branch on the tree [has been affected].”
While she clearly has issues with Jason, fortunately for Bethenny, her relationship with her daughter is top-notch.
“When you parent, it’s not like you parent, and it happens passively. You take long drives, you hang out, you go to dinner,” she shared. “Parents are very transactional and, like, we have the meal, and then we drive; it has to flow. I love her so much, [she’s] the best.”
“When we vibe, and we are watching something, and we’re laughing, we connect, but sometimes we’re on different paths,” she added. “We’re very much like Thelma and Louise, [and] we are like roommates in a way.”
Bethenny shared that she and Bryn are akin to roommates since they’re “in totally different chapters of [their] lives.”
“We are very connected, and we love to be together, and we respect each other’s space and what we’re both going through and doing,” Bethenny elaborated. “That’s why it feels almost like a roommate in a way. We’re in totally different chapters of our lives, obviously, and we respect each other’s chapters.”
She also spoke to the challenges of raising a daughter while having a life in the spotlight.
“I’ve heard about this from therapists, like, it’s my job and I don’t have to apologize for people coming up to me,” she explained. “I mean, everyone has their own thing, and she has a great life, and we don’t get this life without this,” she added. “Like, you can’t take a rose and take the petals and separate them from the thorns. No, but … you just have to be aware that [the thorn] exists.”
Recently, rumblings popped up that Bethenny may be going on the RHONY spinoff The Golden Life after she shared a TikTok video holding an apple while some of her RHONY taglines played.

Two sources that Reality Blurb spoke with seemingly denied that, with one noting they believe she’s “trolling.”
