Jenna Lyons may be dating someone, but that doesn’t mean her mystery woman will be joining her in front of the cameras for future episodes of The Real Housewives of New York City.

On Sunday’s episode, the 55-year-old fashionista and interior designer, who previously worked as the executive creative director and president of J.Crew, confirmed her girlfriend will not be appearing on the show as she looked back on the moment she realized she was a lesbian and recalled being outed in the press.

“Something happened when I turned 40,” Jenna shared in a confessional, per PEOPLE.

At the time, Jenna was married to ex-husband Vincent Mazeau, the father of her son, Beckett, 16, who she wed in 2002 and divorced in 2011.

“I had this beautiful little boy, I had this great job. I had this feeling inside that I wasn’t happy and I remember thinking to myself, ‘I don’t want to feel like this for another 40 years,'” she recalled.

According to Jenna, she “had no idea” that women could be gay in her early years.

“I knew men were, I had no idea women were. It just wasn’t a thing. The only person who was remotely gay who was not admitted was [famed tennis star] Billie Jean King,” she explained.

But after a dinner with a female friend, who she developed feeling for, Jenna said things got “tricky.”

“My very close friend was gay and we were having a conversation, and my relationship was falling apart with my husband. And I asked her, like, ‘What happens with women?’ I just like, was curious — I had no idea, honestly, same way you probably don’t. And by the end of the conversation, after a lot of detail, I realized that I was… I felt sort of… hot. I had never had that feeling before. I just wanted to kiss her,” Jenna admitted.

Although Jenna didn’t actually kiss her friend, she started to have dreams about a potential encounter. Then, less than one month later, before she truly had time to process what she was feeling, she was outed.

Speaking of the devastating moment, Jenna revealed she got a call from the J.Crew CEO and head of their PR, who informed her the New York Post had reached out to them in regard to her relationship with another woman.

“Would you like to confirm or deny?” the paper had asked, Jenna recalled.

“Even talking [about it] right now, I just got hot,” Jenna continued. “I was already in the process of getting divorced but I had not told my mom, I had not told my brother, I had not told my family, I had not told anyone at work. I didn’t really know what I was doing. I was three weeks into this thing! I had no idea. It was so early.”

“Anyway, I heard the words come out of my mouth. I just said, ‘Confirm,'” she added.

While Jenna referred to the moment as “one of the hardest things [she’s] ever experienced,” she felt grateful for the support she got at that time.

“I’m so grateful by how incredibly gracious everyone in the office [was],” Jenna noted. “Not my mom, but everybody else.”

Also in the RHONY episode, Jenna was seen speaking to her castmates about the woman in her life, although she didn’t say much.

“Because I’ve had so much press, I am very quiet about that so I’m not sharing that,” Jenna told co-stars Sai De SilvaUbah HassanErin Lichy, and Jessel Taank of her relationship during a cast dinner in the Hamptons.

She also opened up about her private life during a confessional.

“My life has put me in the public eye for my job and other things I’ve done. And that is my choice. And someone does not want to be in that with me, then I have to respect that,” she shared.

That said, she did confirm to Jessel that she’s happy.

“That’s the most important thing,” Jessel replied.

Meanwhile, Sai wasn’t as thrilled about Jenna’s secrecy.

“I want to know what’s going on with her relationship,” she stated. “She knows my husband, why can’t I know her girlfriend? We’re friends, that’s what friends do — we know each other’s spouses. I’m hoping she’ll let her guard down a little bit.

The Real Housewives of New York City season 14 airs Sundays at 9/8c on Bravo.
