Ariana Madix and Katie Face Backlash After Promoting New Merch for Not-Yet-Open Sandwich Shop, Plus Ariana Prepares for Same-Day Book Release and DWTS Final

Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney‘s sandwich shop, Something About Her, is again facing delays.

Months after the West Hollywood restaurant was supposed to open its doors to patrons, the Vanderpump Rules stars have been hit with permit issues that have made it impossible to open. Get the latest update on their soon-to-be-hotspot as Ariana discusses her new life in boyfriend Daniel Wai‘s hometown of New York City.

Along with a series of photos of the sign and front patio taken down at Something About Her, a new report has confirmed that the opening date has been “put on hold” due to “ongoing health department issues.”

“The front patio at that location was there for years (when it was Hedley’s Restaurant), and it was there without proper city permits,” a source told The U.S. Sun on January 13. “After the remodeling, Katie and Ariana learned that permit laws had changed and they had to take down their sign and break down the entire front patio.”

While Something About Her previously featured a yellow and white awning, along with a small patio, that has all been torn down as Ariana, 38, and Katie, 36, attempt to score a new permit with the City of West Hollywood that allows them to rebuild a different canopy and outdoor dining area.

“The drawings that were submitted for the new outdoor dining space don’t look the same as it was before,” the source shared. “They’re not giving up hope since the outdoor dining area would be beneficial to the business and will allow for more seating space.”

In addition to the exterior of their venue, Ariana and Katie are also having to redo their flooring.

“The health department said that the floor is not for open food use, so the entire flooring has to be pulled out. Well if you pull out that flooring, you have to pull out all the furnishings, you have to pull out the refrigeration too because that wasn’t put in correctly,” the insider continued. “So now, all of a sudden, after spending $300,000 on a build-out, they have to redo everything, is what apparently is going on.”

“It’s a “cluster f*ck. It’s a lot of back and forth with city officials … Taking over this location has been bad luck from the beginning. It’s like it’s been jinxed because it’s always something new,” the source added.

Ariana and Katie’s liquor license for Something About Her is still pending as well.

As for Ariana’s recent move to New York City, where she’s set to begin her run as Roxie Hart in Chicago later this month, the Pump Rules cast member said that while a lot is still the same, some things are much different than she recalls from her years living there a while ago.

“Some parts of it are like riding a bike… taking the train and walking everywhere things like that, I was like, ‘Okay, I remember how to do this’ and then other things are just it’s a different city than when I lived here before cause I was here pre-Instagram, pre-iPhone, pre-social media… It is very different in a lot of ways but I think that that’s just you know the world at large,” she shared during a January 9 interview with Extra TV.

Vanderpump Rules season 11 premieres on Tuesday, January 30, at 8/7c on Bravo.
