Scheana Shay offered an apology to Katie Maloney on the latest episode of her podcast.

After shading her former Vanderpump Rules co-star as “forgettable” on an episode of Gia Giudice‘s podcast, Casual Chaos, earlier this month, Scheana, 40, admitted the diss was “unnecessary” as she applauded Katie, 38, as a “ride or die” friend and called out her other cast members for failing to support her recently-released memoir, My Good Side.

“I made an, under-the-breath, shady comment that was unnecessary … It was shady and rude and uncalled for,” Scheana admitted on the September 19 episode of Scheananigans, via a clip shared by Bye Wig Hello Drama on Instagram.

“I did think that would be edited out because it was like a stumble, and if it were my show, I probably would’ve cut it out, but I guess she left it in because she thought it was funny,” she continued.

Although she and Katie had “so many ups and downs” in their relationship, she acknowledged that they’ve had a “real friendship at times.”

“We’ve had such amazing breakthroughs, and then it’s like one word, and not even that she and I are cool or hanging out, anything like that, but I’m like, one word, and then it stirs it up,” she explained.

After noting that she and Katie have exchanged barbs on their podcasts, joking that that is how they “f*cking communicate” since they don’t text or call one another, Scheana said that they were always “so good” when they were “one on one.”

“But then when it’s others, other cast members, other people [get] involved, [it] felt like things would kind of go sideways,” she explained.

Scheana then confessed that when it came to her past with Katie, she’d proven herself as a good friend.

“[Katie] was there for me the night, the day, I found the messages between [my ex-husband Mike Shay] and the other woman. She never told production, never told the press, she, even when we weren’t on good terms, she always kept those secrets, and she is one of those ride or die, really good friends,” Scheana shared. “And I strive to be more of that kind of friend, and I’m trying to be better … and learn from my mistakes, and this was one of them.”

In conclusion, Scheana chalked up her “forgettable” shade to “comfortability” with Gia, 24, before noting that Katie had surely made similar comments about her.

“She probably has made mean jokes like that about me,” she added.

As for Scheana’s complaints about her Pump Rules castmates, she addressed their lack of support for her book while attending the Page Six Virtual Reali-Tea “VRT Awards” 2025.

“What surprised me is how many people didn’t support it publicly,” Scheana told Us Weekly on September 17.

Although Scheana didn’t name names, she previously suggested that Lala Kent, 35, had waited a full week to acknowledge the “really nice PR box” she sent her.

Either way, Scheana expressed pride in her publication.

“I couldn’t have expected what a great reaction everyone just had about the book. It became a New York Times bestseller. It’s incredible,” she gushed. “It’s really great to just feel like so many people were able to relate to my story. They enjoyed reading it. For little Scheana — who always raised her hand and wanted to read aloud in class — I was like, ‘Now I’m a New York Times best-selling not just author but also narrator.’ That’s so cool.”

Scheana also spoke of the reaction her husband, Brock Davies, got upon her book reveal of his past affair.

“He’s definitely gotten some backlash, which is obviously well deserved,” Scheana admitted. “But other than blocking a lot of words in his Instagram comments, he’s doing OK. And he understands why I needed to put it in the book, and we’re good.”

“At the end of the day, that’s all that matters,” she added.
