RHOBH's Kyle Richards Explains Why She Defended PK, Claims She Knows Him as a "Different Person" Than Dorit Portrays as Dorit Suspects PK's Friendship is More Important Than Hers

Kyle Richards shared her thoughts on Dorit Kemsley‘s drama with Paul “PK” Kemsley, and her defensive statements about him, after Thursday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

As Kyle explained why she had stood up for PK, 58, signaling how Dorit, 49, had previously shamed him publicly, Dorit accused her of prioritizing her friendship with her estranged husband over their own relationship and called her out for failing to do what she says.

“Dorit wants to hear, ‘What an a**hole. You poor thing.’ But of course I’m obviously going to have a different reaction from knowing someone,” Kyle explained on the December 12 episode of the RHOBH: After Show. “[Bozoma Saint John], for example, had said the exact same thing that I had said. But she doesn’t have that reaction with me.”

Looking back on season 14, Kyle recalled PK being upset about Dorit calling him an alcoholic.

“Dorit has said he was fine with this, [and that] he knew that [she] had said that he had stopped drinking. Yes, he’s fine with you saying he’s sober and not drinking now. But he wasn’t fine with you saying he’s an alcoholic repeatedly,” she clarified.

According to Kyle, she knows that Dorit’s on-camera discussions about PK’s drinking affected their relationship. So, when she witnessed Dorit speaking about what kind of father he was, she knew he’d be hurt by that as well.

“As a parent, I’m just thinking, if someone said that about me, my claws are coming out. And I’m not calling her a liar. I’m just saying I know him as a different person than what I’m hearing, and regardless of what’s going on and what he is or is not doing, I don’t think we should say that in this public space that people are going to see on TV in six months,” she reasoned.

Then, when Kyle confirmed that, “from what [she’d] seen,” PK was a good parent, Amanda Frances, 40, admitted to feeling bad for Dorit.

“I felt so bad for her, and what is triggering to me and also personal for me is I’m thinking about how it affects the kids … as a mom … I was a children’s therapist. If you say absent parent, there’s nothing lower to me than that, she stated.

“That is exactly why I was worried. People that don’t know him will have that reaction,” Kyle replied.

In their own RHOBH: After Show segment, Boz, 48, said that because Kyle and Dorit had such a history, she encouraged Dorit to hear her out — even if she didn’t like what she had to say.

“Kyle has known Dorit for a long time, and they’ve been very, very close, been through a lot of things together, and so I thought, ‘Hey, look, if Kyle has a perspective, at least, Dorit, like, listen to it. Be open to it. And then make your decision from there,’” she explained.

But Dorit felt that Kyle “didn’t understand” where she was coming from.

“My struggle with Kyle is that sometimes I just really expect to feel like my friendship is more important to her than her friendship with him,” she shared.

Dorit also pointed out that she and Kyle were already in a place where their friendship had been tested.

“You’re trying to earn back trust, and you’re trying to feel like the person that said publicly she exaggerated our friendship, really doesn’t feel that way,” she continued. “I thought Kyle and I were moving forward, and if we’re going to move forward, we both have to show that we really want to. And so I’m going slowly because I’m walking with trepidation because I don’t trust, and so every time she has the opportunity to make me feel like she’s really showing up, where I’m really important to her, my friendship with her is really important, I want to actually see it.”

“I want to feel it. But then I’m not getting the actions that are matching,” she added.

Elsewhere on the RHOBH: After Show, Jennifer Tilly, 67, said that she believed Kyle and Dorit’s biggest issue was Kyle’s past claims of them not being close.

“I think she was just frustrated or angry, and I said, ‘That’s hurtful because that was embarrassing to her,'” Kathy Hilton, 66, explained.

“I don’t think their friendship ever really fully recovered from that,” Jennifer replied.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 15 airs Thursdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
