Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefo, are being forced to submit eight years of financial documents as part of an ongoing insurance fraud case against them.

After a hearing on Friday, during which attorneys for the 41-year-old Real Housewives of Potomac stars claimed the release of the records would be an “annoyance,” “over broad,” and “superfluous,” a Carroll County judge ruled in favor of the state of Maryland.

According to a December 19 report from The Baltimore Sun, via Fox 45 News, Wendy and Eddie must turn over the financial information to authorities, who believe they lied about an April 2024 burglary at their home to cash in on $450,000 worth of insurance claims.

As they attempt to establish a motive, prosecutors have stated that the documents will show Wendy and Eddie’s alleged “pattern of excessive spending.” Meanwhile, the couple’s defense team has said that requesting their financial information was nothing more than a “fishing expedition” that would have no impact on the outcome of the case.

A separate report on ABC News’ Nightline accused Wendy and Eddie of being “swamped in debt.”

“I don’t care if she’s a real housewife, a fake housewife, or whatever she is, we would have handled it the same way regardless of who she was,” said an officer at the Carroll County Sheriff’s office.

Another man, legal analyst Brian Buckmire, noted that Wendy was facing 16 charges, and that “seven of those are felonies, each one carrying up to 15 years in prison.”

“These allegations are serious,” he stated, as he also noted that internal sensors at Wendy and Eddie’s home, as well as cameras, “detected no motion in conjunction with when this alleged burglary happened.”

As for Wendy and Eddie, they have suggested that their home burglary wasn’t properly investigated when it occurred.

“We look forward to going to trial,” their lawyer, Jeremy Eldridge, declared.

The Real Housewives of Potomac season 10 airs Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo.
