Kyle Cooke posted a public apology to his now-estranged wife, Amanda Batula, on Instagram on Thursday night after being seen cussing her out on Tuesday’s episode of Summer House.
After his profanity-laced rant, during which he called Amanda, 34, a “dumb a** b*tch” and told her, “f*ck you,” Kyle, 43, took to social media, where he shared a statement with his fans and followers, admitting to wrongdoing and telling his online audience that he needs to “be better.”
“There’s no excuse for how I acted last summer. The way I spoke to and about Amanda was unacceptable, and it’s brutal to watch back. But not nearly as painful as what she’s had to go through … Amanda and I have already spoken about all of this but I felt the need to acknowledge this publicly. I’m truly sorry and regret the way I handled myself. I know nothing can erase the hurt I caused, she never deserved that, and I need to be better,” he wrote in the March 26 post, which included a photo of the two of them.
After sharing his statement, Kyle was met with mixed reactions from fans, some of whom applauded him for taking accountability and others of whom demanded he quit drinking.
“Amazing Kyle. Good for you. Real Bravo fans love you both, and know that relationships are complicated. Wishing you both the best,” one person wrote.
“This is how you apologize,” shared someone else.
Others applauded Kyle’s courage in speaking out and acknowledged that “relationships are tough.”
“I know the bar is SUPER low for the men on [Bravo] but I’m glad you at least did this and seem to be owning your behavior. That’s more than most [men] on this platform ever do,” another Instagram user noted.
But others were more skeptical, writing things like, “Men will literally do anything but stop drinking and go to therapy,” and, “Stop drinking dude … it’s amazing what it does.”
“I know y’all are not in here praising this man for his well know performative accountability,” said someone else.
Also on Instagram on Thursday, Salley Carson, 31, who was linked to Kyle last month, posted a photo of herself with Kyle and Austen Kroll, 38, fueling rumors of a potential romance between them.
Following the reports of a romance, Kyle spoke out on the March 10 episode of WWHL: After Show, where he explained, “We were out with multiple friends at a dive bar. This was not like a date situation. [We were] just having fun. But she’s a great girl.”
Elsewhere, Salley told a commenter on Instagram, “Can we stop with this[?] I was with a group of people, can a girl have guy friends?”
