Janet Caperna believes it was a good thing for Jax Taylor to depart The Valley before its third season.

Ahead of Wednesday’s premiere, Janet spoke of the new episodes, offering an update on her relationship with Kristen Doute, revealing that the season was “lighter” than the two prior, and gushing over her friendship with Michelle Saniei while also admitting that things began to get heavy in the midst of last season’s drama between Jax and his now-estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright.

“It was some heavy topics. I honestly feel like it was good that [Jax] stepped away,” Janet shared on the March 30 episode of KTLA 5 Morning News.

As fans will recall, Jax announced his exit from The Valley last summer after “an incredibly challenging year.”

“Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting. Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself — especially for our son, Cruz,” he shared at the time.

Moving on to Kristen, Janet admitted they weren’t in a great place.

“[Our relationship] is not that great,” she confirmed. “I think we’ve just grown apart, and that’s okay. That happens in life. And I’m feeling really great about a lot of my other friendships on the show … Michelle and I had a really great time this season filming … we laughed, I feel like, more than ever before. I feel like you’re gonna see definitely a lighter season.”

According to Janet, a lot of the cast’s friendships will be seen evolving amid season three.

“You’re gonna see a lot of friendships that have ups and downs. You’re gonna see a rollercoaster. But you’re also going to see some amazing friendships, and I think it’s gonna be a lot more lighter of a season and you’re gonna see more laughter than ever before,” she teased.

As for her mindset going into the new episodes, Janet explained, “It’s always a little mix of [nervousness and excitement].”

The Valley season three premieres on Wednesday, April 1, at 8/7c on Bravo.
