Garcelle Beauvais reflected on an October 2025 run-in she had with Sutton Stracke during an appearance on Kelly Ripa‘s podcast last month.
As she also recalled the moment in which her son, Jaid Nilon, 18, encouraged her to leave her role on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Garcelle, 59, revealed that she came face-to-face with Sutton, 54, months after their falling out at the season 14 reunion.
“I did [have a genuine friendship with Sutton]. I haven’t spoken to her since I made the announcement on Instagram that I was leaving. I spoke to her that night. But I did go to a premiere of Song Sung Blue … And I hear, ‘Hello, Garcelle,’ and I turn to my right, and it’s Sutton. [I said], ‘Hello, Sutton,’” Garcelle shared on the May 7 episode of Let’s Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa.
According to Garcelle, the “hellos” were the gist of their interaction.
“That was really it,” she confirmed. “And it was so strange because then I got on the carpet, and she was on the carpet, but we were far apart. And I even wondered, is anybody going to — and eventually somebody did catch the fact that we were both on the red carpet at the same time.”
In a photo shared by Bravo and Cocktails on Instagram of the event, Garcelle and Sutton were seen with just one person in between them.

Continuing on about the encounter, Garcelle noted what a far cry it was from their past friendship.
“Before, we would be like, tied to the hip if we were together at an event. It’s just odd when things like that happen,” she admitted. “[But] that was a chapter. That was a season. I’m a big believer in, sometimes not everything lasts forever, and it’s okay. You can still have fondness for that.”
“It’s not the end of the world,” she added.
Speaking of her early moment on RHOBH, Garcelle noted that it was much different than the career she had in acting.
“The first time the cameras came into my house, I was waiting for somebody to yell, ‘Action,’ because that’s what I expect. And if the producers tell me something, I take it as a direction that a director would give you. So that was different for me,” she shared. “But it was really about being me and showing up as me, but also, there’s a weight to me coming into a room, being a Black woman.”
As Garcelle pointed out, some of the conversations that eventually arose on the show did so because “there was never anyone that was different from all of them” prior to her arrival.
Then, noting that she has “much more relief” now that she’s exited the series, Garcelle said Jaid was a key factor in her decision to leave.
“The night that I came home from the reunion, I was deeply hurt and just in a really, not in a great place, obviously, and Jaid was home, and he came downstairs, and he hugged me and every time I went to let go, he held on tighter,” she revealed. “And then he whispered in my ear, ‘It’s enough, Mom. I think it’s enough.’”
Garcelle Beauvais was featured in a full-time role on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills from season 10 to season 14.
