Albie Manzo revealed he talks more to Lauren Manzo’s ex-husband Vito Scalia than to Lauren herself, as he recalled Lauren and Vito’s secret past relationship. The Real Housewives of New Jersey star also dished on his argument with Vito at the time.
When Lauren and Vito began secretly dating, he was Albie’s best friend. Though the couple later married and had a child together, they divorced in 2024. But a year earlier, Lauren shared that their marriage had been over for a while and they were amicably co-parenting.
“To [be] perfectly clear, I probably talk to Vito more than I talk to Lauren,” said Albie on his “Dear Albie” podcast. “I talk to Vito almost every day. We’re all in a giant group text. He was [recently] hitting me up, asking me if I got an au pair. We were all joking about stuff. So Vito and I are still tight.”
Albie then addresses his own relationship with his father Albert Manzo.
“I barely saw my dad growing up, high school, college, and all that other stuff,” said Albie, who added that Albert sometimes would hang out with Albie and his friends. “But it wasn’t like everybody was getting time in.”
At one point in the episode, Albie recalled Lauren’s secret relationship with Vito, who was Albie’s best friend at the time.
“I’m watching my best friend who’s dating my sister, [and] I genuinely didn’t know a lot of this stuff was going on. [Vito and] I had argued [about it] behind the scenes,” he said. “I made one simple point [to him]: ‘Well, it would have been nice to let me know.’ And he was like, ‘Why do I got to let you know?’ And I was like, what?”
“When we’re having [that] conversation, I’m thinking about the conversation you had before this … that made you think the way that you do,” Albie added. “And I knew from Vito [that he] had a conversation with my sister, [when she] said, ‘What does [Albie] have to know for?’ And that’s what [Vito was] running with.”
Albie hinted that he and Vito stopped talking after that – despite their close relationship today.
