Scheana Shay reacted to the claims Lala Kent made about the end of their friendship during The Valley reunion on Friday’s episode of her podcast.
As she also reacted to being mentioned on Stassi Schroeder‘s new show, House of Stassi, the 41-year-old Vanderpump Rules alum weighed in on Lala’s suggestion that Scheana broke her heart by taking things “to the streets” after Lala accidentally slipped and told their mutual friend, Jenna Willis, about Brock Davies‘ affair before it was revealed in Scheana’s book.
“This wasn’t about one isolated incident, but it was a pattern that went on for years. Even now, I’m continuing to learn about things that were happening behind the scenes that were hurtful and damaging to both me and my relationships,” Scheana clarified on the August 14 episode of Scheananigans, via Vanderpod Recaps on Instagram.
Although Lala’s lack of support for her book was “frustrating” to Scheana, she said she tried to protect Lala behind the scenes.
“I genuinely wanted to keep our friendship intact. And looking back, that was actually like a really lonely experience,” she noted.
As for Lala’s suggestion that their friendship ended only due to the drama surrounding Scheana’s book, Scheana said that only “reduced a deeper and more painful pattern” in their friendship and made her seem like a “spoiled, ungrateful toddler.
Regarding Lala’s comment about not recognizing her, Scheana acknowledged that she’s “not the same person” she was years ago.
“I’m no longer the girl who had no boundaries, who let people walk all over her, treat me poorly, and then just accepted it because I wanted to keep the peace … I’ve done a lot of work on myself,” she explained.
According to Scheana, she’s tried “many, many times [to repair the friendship].”
“And I just feel like there comes a point when you realize that you’ve exhausted every avenue and you have to accept that someone just wasn’t capable of being the kind of friend that you needed,” she continued. “I don’t believe that friendship was healthy. And I don’t believe it was rooted in someone who truly wanted the best for me.”
“That friendship was only hurting me. And that’s not the kind of friendship I want to be in,” she added.
Although Scheana has been criticized for forgiving her husband for having the affair but refusing to move on from Lala’s decision to discuss it, she insisted “they are two completely different situations” and noted that Lala had betrayed her trust more than once.
Looking back at the moment she learned Lala had told Jenna about Brock, Scheana shared, “When I asked for some time to process this, I didn’t even get 24 hours before I received the longest gaslighting text of my life.”
After Lala sent her the message, which Scheana said showed a pattern of “deflection” and a “lack of accountability,” Scheana realized they wouldn’t be able to re-establish their friendship.
“You can’t truly move forward from something until everyone involved is willing to acknowledge what happened, take accountability for their part, and show growth. That’s how trust gets rebuilt. I’ve experienced that with Brock over time. I unfortunately never experienced that in my friendship with Lala. And that is really the difference,” she noted.
Also on the podcast episode, Scheana reacted to Stassi mentioning her on House of Stassi, saying, “I’m surprised she hasn’t started charging me rent for the space I seem to occupy in her mind.”
She then said that a potential cameo on season two “would depend on the check.”
As fans may have seen, Stassi suggested on her show that Scheana made everything about her, as it was alleged that she’d also made an effort to get cast on Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
