On MTV’s Teen Mom 2, one of the most compelling stories was Jenelle Evans and her oldest son, Jace.
As viewers who watched the show from the beginning know, Jenelle, 34, ended up giving up custody of Jace to her mother, Barbara Evans, in 2010.
In 2023, Jenelle ended up getting custody of Jace back from Barbara, 73.
After regaining custody, there were issues with Jace running away and him accusing Jenelle’s then-husband, David Eason, of assault. This resulted in a CPS investigation and Jace temporarily being removed from Jenelle’s home.
While Jace ended up living again with Barbara, and then with his father, Andrew Lewis, for approximately three weeks in 2025, an incident in 2026 occurred at Barbara’s house where police were dispatched for a “troubled teen disturbance.”
Jace ended up going for treatment to work on himself, and he recently returned to living with his grandmother.
On August 13, Jenelle updated Us Weekly about Jace’s living situation.
“Jace is back at my mom’s at the moment and isn’t coming to live with me because my mother and I have mutually agreed upon his living situation and circumstances,” she shared.
“[TikToker] Dawson [Day] had to pick up Jace for me because I have knee problems, had surgery and now am diagnosed with CRPS,” Jenelle added. “I couldn’t physically travel and still can’t.”
As for Jace’s living arrangements, Jenelle insisted they had “nothing to do with David at all,” as she had been rumored at the time to be back with him. Jenelle had denied they were back together and insisted they were co-parenting and that he had stayed at her home to help her after she had knee surgery.
“Jace wants to be around his friends and is now working at his job again that he once had,” she elaborated. “I’m really happy all parties can come together for my son and finally agree on something.”
Jace took to his Instagram to go live on August 18 to speak out.
“My grandma, she’s doing pretty good,” he stated in a live that The Ashley’s Reality Roundup caught. “I’m over here just living my life. Everyone was happy to have me back home. I’ve been doing my best.”
He noted he was “pretty good” and said he has a relationship with his siblings who still live with Jenelle.
“Yes, I do, actually [have a relationship with them]. I have my little brother’s phone number and my little sister’s phone number,” Jace stated. “I’ll call them here or there. When I’m 18, next year, I’m gonna probably drive up there and see them.”
When he finishes school, he said he hopes to “go around the world, travel and film content.” For now, though, he’s “getting what I need to get done.”
“I considered [living] by myself, honestly, but I’m at my grandma’s because I’ve got a job,” Jace added. “I’ve got everything I need to get done. I’m about to be done with school.”
