Brooks Marks shared the real reason he didn’t model for Shai Fruchter on Next Gen NYC, as Gia Giudice hinted that Brooks “pops the f**k off” on Shai at the reunion. Meanwhile, Shai himself called the reunion “terrifying.”
In the new season, Brooks refused to model for Shai’s new clothing line, claiming he had to get approval from his agent (which Shai seemingly didn’t believe). Brooks, who also has a clothing line, got into it with Shai in a later episode after Shai dissed him at BravoCon. But in a future episode, the co-stars seemed to make up.
On Casual Chaos with Gia Giudice, Brooks shared the real reason he didn’t model for Shai.
“The whole, like, agent thing … I feel like that was really turned into something that it wasn’t,” he said. “It simply was a logistical, I don’t want to get sued by anyone that I’m working with kind of thing.”
“And it was weaponized as like a ‘look at this diva being like, talk to my agent,'” he explained. “If you’re actually my friend, why would you want me to jeopardize my career? I feel like if you told me you had to get something cleared with your agent, I would be totally understanding of that. Watching it back, I’m honestly glad that I didn’t [model for him].”
According to Brooks, some of the things Shai said about him on the show were “not kind” and “not said to my face.”
Gia then hinted at Brooks’ actions at the reunion.
“Brooks popped the f**k off at the reunion. I was actually jumping out of my seat, and I was so proud of you,” said Gia. “I didn’t want to react, but like you’re definitely going to see my facial expressions … like, ‘This is crazy.'”
Brooks added, “Well, I just think it’s literally sick to paint me as like a non-direct, conflict-adverse person. And then if I give it to you, I’m angry and mean, you know? It’s like, you can’t have both. Like, what do you want from me?”
In an interview for Daily Dish, Shai shared his own perspective about the reunion.
“[It was] terrifying,” he said. “And it was crazy and uncomfortable. And it was a lot. And I felt kind of overwhelmed at points.”
“But leaving it … it’s kind of like throwing up,” he added. “Like you took seven shots and [you throw up] and you’re like, wow, I’m ready to hang out more. It’s like you boot and rally and that’s kind of the reunion feeling. … What will surprise [fans] is that there are some resolutions, and you do get to hear a lot of truths that you weren’t really expecting.”
