Don’t Be Tardy alum Kim Zolciak‘s 15-year-old son, Kroy “KJ” Biermann Jr., is currently awaiting arraignment in his sexual assault case.
Recently, KJ suffered a legal setback, as his request to have the courtroom closed was denied.
Superior Court Judge Melynee Leftridge denied the motion after she found “that the high legal standard for permitting a closed courtroom was not met by Defendant,” court documents stated.
The court did grant a motion KJ requested to limit photo and video recording by the media strictly to what is required to comply with the court’s protective measures, and it also granted protections regarding KJ’s juvenile court records, ordering that they “shall be filed under seal.”
A request KJ made that prosecutors be limited in presenting information from his juvenile court case that they deem pertinent to the court’s consideration of his bond was also denied.
While Kim, 48, has been supporting her son through his ordeal, Page Six reported she was spotted out shopping amid his legal setback.
According to the outlet, Kim was seen in Alpharetta, Georgia, on Friday, wearing a black tank top and jeans.
She also donned a necklace, sunglasses, and black heels with a pointed toe.
The outlet noted that Kim was expressionless in the photos that were obtained.
Aside from her son’s arrest, Kim has been dealing with some new financial issues, as it was recently reported that she was accused of owing over $150,000 in two new lawsuits.
Us Weekly shared the news on September 10 after they obtained documents revealing that Headway Capital sued her in April 2026, claiming she took out a business-use line of credit and security agreement for her business, 8 Busy B’s LLC, which is now defunct. They have alleged she failed to pay back $75K to them.
Headway Capital is seeking what she owed plus interest, which totals $130,634.03.
The company said it “provided [Kim] with a revolving line of credit” in the lawsuit. They also claimed Kim owes them “the total principal amount of $74,983.89, accrued interest at the contract rate through August 13, 2024, in the amount of $55,650.14, plus pre-judgment interest at the legal rate from August 14, 2024, and statutory post-judgment interest.”
While Kim was served on June 23 with a hearing set for August 8, it ended up being canceled. No new date has been scheduled, and Kim has not responded to the lawsuit.
Another lawsuit was filed against Kim on July 13 by Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC, over an alleged credit card bill of $17K that was unpaid.
In the court documents, it noted that the company claimed they took on Kim’s $16,759.51 debt after they bought it from Barclays Bank Delaware, which is where she opened a credit card in May 2024.
They stated Kim “failed to make payments under the terms of the agreement.”
“[She] defaulted, leaving the balance as set forth in the complaint as due and owing,” they said.
They also alleged Kim is “indebted to [Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC] the principal amount of $16,759.51.”
An affidavit noted that a process server has tried more than 10 times to serve Kim since July 16 at the home she used to live in with Kroy, but security informed them she no longer resides there. They also noted they tried to reach Kim via telephone and left voicemails but did not receive a call back, with the most recent attempt being made on August 22.
