“I’d rather be boring than break up a marriage of a man who has eight children.” Fighting words from boring old Erin. The Passover Seder is still happening on this episode of The Real Housewives of New York City…and so is the fight between Erin and Hailey.
Hailey is sick of these rumors coming up again about her past dating life and she explains that the whole world placed a false narrative on her. Hailey calls Erin a “piece of sh*t,” but Erin points out that Hailey showed all the magazine covers she was on, so therefore Hailey could not have been THAT traumatized by it.
Hailey tells Erin FU and refers to her as a “lying a*s snake.” She warns Erin to watch her back and yells that Erin always plays the victim while lying about everyone. Carole tries to explain to Erin how this is not a comparable fight, but Hailey leaves the house, putting Daisy, the hostess, in a weird spot.
Sai runs after Hailey and reminds her that she needed to stand up for herself. Erin claims she feels bad that Hailey is now upset, but maybe if Hailey did not talk behind her back, it would not have happened. Sai realizes that Hailey is suffering from PTSD about her past and does her best to remind Hailey that she should not let anyone rob of her fun activities.
Carole takes a moment to clear the air with Jessel because she admits to be struggling with Jessel’s Love Story comments. She goes on to say this summer has been very painful for her and she reminds Jessel that Carolyn Bessette is more than clothes and an aesthetic. Carole calls Jessel’s behavior “ding bat vibes” rather than “mean, b*tchy vibes.” To wrap up the conversation, Carole lets Jessel know she should never talk about the Kennedy curse again.
These ladies are ping-ponging from one fight to the next. Jessel denies making fun of Daisy’s apartment, claiming she thought they were laughing together. Daisy felt a little judged because the ladies pointed out her popcorn ceilings. Daisy reminds Jessel that they have been in their rent-stabilized apartment for over 20 years so she can deal with popcorn ceilings…and her cheap rent.
Sai lets Daisy know that she busts her a*s for the amenities that she pays for in her apartment. According to Daisy, Sai’s rent is like $25,000.00. Insane. Sai wonders why where she lives is even a topic and points out that Daisy always gives her unsolicited advice. Sai tells the group that she is happy where she lives and that’s that.
Erika makes a toast to invite the ladies to her private island (she would NEVER have popcorn ceilings) for a girls only trip. When they head out to get back home, Hailey refers to this as the worst Seder in history.
Carole loves the theater and has gotten involved in an off-Broadway theater group. There is an upcoming gala as a way to raise money and so naturally Carole has invited $Erika$,. Unfortunately, Erika cannot attend because she was invited by Anne Hathaway to go to the Devil Wears Prada premiere. Fancy. Now what is Carole supposed to do with the rest of the group she has invited?!
Sai is visiting with her aunt and explains she is like her aunt’s fifth child. Her aunt gives her some advice about Sai’s relationship and points out that there has never been any affection between Sai and her husband. Sai would ideally like a divorce, but is taking baby steps towards that goal. She has yet to talk to her kids about this situation, but once she found out he put her birthday dinner on HER credit card, Sai knew there was nothing left to save.
The lack of communication in her marriage has eaten her alive, particularly after the death of her mom. Sai’s mom stayed at their house when they went on vacation and, in a drunken stupor, ruined the place. She did not let the dog out, painted the walls, and destroyed Sai’s home. This behavior is what sent her mom to a shelter and the fact that she died three months later, leaves Sai with an abundance of guilt. David and Sai never had a conversation about her mom and she explains that she does not have a partner in her husband.
Speaking of partners, Jesse questions her husband about his work situation…the one that he is keeping under wraps. One income is a lot of stress on Jessel and she understands he really needs a reality check.
Hailey has decided to exit the city and head to the ‘burbs to spend time (and bird watch) with her mom. Hailey talks about Erin as a bully and shares that Erin purposely hurt her. Hailey makes it clear that it still hurts when someone brings this up and Hailey’s mom ultimately makes it all about her. Classic.
Hailey explains that her mom was good friends with Jon and wanted Hailey to date him. Because she always wanted to make her mom happy and proud, Hailey went through with it, despite it robbing her of her twenties. Hailey shares that she has healed herself alone because this was all orchestrated by her mom.
Later, Martha and her publicist meet with Daisy to discuss the upcoming schedule. Martha wants Daisy to follow her all over and she gets mad because Daisy is not always at her beck and call. Being around Martha influences Daisy as she has a taste for luxury, with a popcorn ceiling budget.
It’s the night of the gala for Carole’s theater group and Hailey is simply pretending that Erin does not exist. She does not say hello to Erin, but luckily a bubbly Jennifer Tilly (and her “banjos”) comes to interrupt the tension.
Jessel arrives just as the gala begins, but when Hailey sits next to Erin, the fight continues, this time at a loud whisper level. Hailey still can’t believe that Erin would do that to her and they bicker, despite being quieted during the gala bidding. Hailey lets Erin know that she almost took her life over the way things happened in her twenties. After many shushes and admitting to “conflict, resolution,” they have decided to move past the drama. For now.
