Ariana Biermann shared the real reason she broke up with her boyfriend, Hudson McLeroy, after he revealed at the Next Gen NYC reunion that he went to rehab during season two. Ariana also hinted at what else “I couldn’t talk about,” including things with “my family.” Her friend and co-star Gia Giudice then reacted.

Recently, amid Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann’s divorce, Ariana’s 15-year-old brother KJ Biermann was indicted for aggravated sexual assault. It later came out that KJ was previously put under court supervision for a separate incident after he allegedly had a video of himself sexually assaulting an underage relative.

On Casual Chaos with Gia Giudice, Ariana was asked when she knew things were done with Hudson “this time around,” alluding to their brief reconciliation earlier this year after she broke up with him in October of last year.

“April,” she answered. “[But I] didn’t break up with him until July. But I knew in April. I gave him an ultimatum, in a sense. I said, ‘The only way I’m gonna do this is if you are completely honest with me. Completely honest with me about every single thing.'”

“I told him about Charlie. I told him about everything. And I was like, ‘This is the truth. This is what’s happened. This is what’s going on. I’m not gonna lie to you,'” Ariana continued. “And then he lied to me in April. And I looked at my sister. I was bawling. And I was like, ‘I don’t know. This isn’t gonna work. Like, it’s just never. I don’t think it’s ever gonna change.’ I unfortunately think that with me, he gets too comfortable.”

Ariana said she thinks they are “better equipped” to be in each other’s lives “in a different way.”

“You are an incredible person. You are going to do such big things in this life. You need a push. And the push has always been me walking away,” she said. “So I will walk away because I deserve happiness.”

Later on, Ariana shared that watching the season back was “horrific” and “traumatic.”

“Seeing just kind of how everything played out, I think it sucked. And, you know, there was so much I couldn’t talk about at the time and other things that I was dealing with, with Hudson and with my family and stuff,” she hinted, via @vanderpodrecaps on Instagram. “There was just a lot happening. And I wanted to be so okay at a time that I wasn’t. Clearly, look at my behavior.”

Gia, who’s dealing with her own sister Milania Giudice’s arrest for simple assault, shared her reaction.

“I think that’s the biggest thing where we are filming a reality TV show, but nobody actually understands what’s going on behind the scenes,” she said. “And when we are filming a show, we want to obviously give our best selves forward. And we try to do that in our day-to-day lives, mask what’s going on behind closed doors and really just put our best foot forward. … It’s our job. It’s what we’ve — I mean, I don’t want to say we’ve been trained to do that, but…”

“Compartmentalize. That’s the word,” said Ariana.

“Yes,” Gia agreed.

“Compartmentalize. I am very good at that, almost too good,” said Ariana. “Me and my therapist talk about this all the time. I don’t fully process things. I didn’t fully process so much stuff. And then it all kind of came in at like one time when I kind of was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m crumbling.’ And then I began to crumble.”
