Teen Mom alum Farrah Abraham has never been shy about discussing procedures she’s had done in the past.

While some of them have been cosmetic, Farrah recently underwent a double-disc jaw surgery to treat ongoing jaw issues she’s had.

The Daily Mail spoke to Christy Johnston, Farrah’s manager, who told them that Farrah, 35, “cannot speak because her jaw is wired shut, and her face is extremely swollen. She is in a severe amount of pain and is really struggling, both physically and mentally.”

“To make matters worse, she has also lost hearing in her right ear. I hope and pray that her pain eases soon and that her hearing returns to normal over time,” she added.

Christy also talked with PEOPLE about the procedure, noting that Farrah’s stitches were removed on September 30, which was a “small but welcome milestone.”

Due to the procedure, Farrah, 35, will be unable to speak for two months because her jaw is wired shut. She also will have to remain on a liquid diet, as she cannot have solid food.

“She has already lost a significant amount of weight,” Chrissy continued. “She’s understandably not having the easiest time right now. The severe pain, swelling, and inability to eat solid food, open her mouth or talk have taken a significant toll on her mood, but she’s doing her best to stay positive.”

“She still has a long road ahead,” she added. “She’s taking things one day at a time and trying to keep moving forward.”

Us Magazine noted that Farrah appeared on her daughter Sophia Abraham‘s TikTok live after coming out of surgery. She held up a sign that read, “I had surgery + can’t talk. Thanks for all the gifts.”

Farrah also wrote that she felt like “Frankenstein” and was hoping to see the swelling in her face go down in “three months.”

Reality Blurb reached out to Farrah to see if she had anything else she wanted to share about her procedure and her recovery.

“I feel like Frankenstein 🎃 this is NOT cosmetic,” she wrote to us. “This is NOT a GoFundMe. We must STOP medical billing scams and support our doctors over the criminals who created the surgery.”

She shared she would suggest getting this procedure before Halloween as “tou will fit right in with Frankenstein and Terminator ( stitches and titanium ).”

As for why she got the procedure, she explained that, “After a non-consensual assault left me with serious jaw damage, I’ve spent years just trying to eat, talk, and breathe without suffering ( suffering in silence). I found it odd everyone said I should sue my doctor when I should sue the animal who did this to me. (It’s in the news, and I am).  This double jaw surgery was carefully planned for months — custom-molded jaws, amazing doctors, PAs, ICU nurses, and engineers who built them custom just for me.”

“Twice before surgery, hospital billing tried to bill me outside my insurance — even though they hadn’t verified,” she continued. “‘You didn’t meet your deductible’ is a line they use when they didn’t even check. That’s not fair, and in Texas, that’s not how it’s supposed to work. Know your rights: Texas Senate Bill 1264 (Texas Insurance Code Chapter 1467) protects you against surprise medical billing with consumer protection.”

She revealed she displayed her “stitches and titanium skull images’ as she feels this is “bigger” than her.

“This is an opportunity to help others advocate for themselves with our medical billing laws, so those not educated will not be taken advantage of. Keeping it Fair with Farrah Abraham,” she noted. “I’m running for District 5 City Council this month 🗳️ because I want to save YOU money on medical billing too. If my South Austin community of neighbors, family, [and] friends elects me for District 5 and gives me the opportunity for the seat, my jaws will be back in business in January – ready to work, ready to work with the Governor to stop medical billing fraud.”

The long-standing reality personality also called out “reporters” who are “running this for clickbait” without checking facts, advising them to “do better” as “survivors deserve truth, not sensationalism.”

“Thank you to everyone who got me through this. I’m a survivor and an advocate – I hope our world catches up. 🫶,” she concluded. “Have you or someone you love dealt with medical billing fraud? Public surgery shame? Share this – let’s make it known. #KeepingItFair #FarrahAbraham #District5 #MedicalBilling #SurvivorAdvocate #JawSurgery #Texas.”
